i told you
i fuckin' told you
not just being bitter about the franchise direction
I heard you, but having someone go "actually we summoned 7 more true servants" is like hearing a train inspector saying that they should add fireworks and gunpowder to the cargo of missiles.

It's not a deathgame where you expect the cast to die off fast, most of the characters are there for a long time, especially the servants with their backstories.

The original Fate Stay Night had a cast of major characters smaller than 14, even less considering many characters like Assassin and Caster's pseudo master are mainly filler. And it was a 80 hour VN with multiple routes to explore every one.

This has double than that despite being a LN, and that's in addition to tons of world building you are expected to know beforehand. It's pure hubris.

oh man
oh boy
the finale volume has yet to be released and like 10 servants are still alive

I watched Serial Experiments Lain over Christmas. I've just started a similar sounding anime on Netflix called Pantheon. Any thoughts on either?
Pantheon is god tier by cartoon standards. Photogenic art, competent animation, writing that balances serious hard sci-fi without being boring or pretentious... season 2 trips at the finish line though.

Damn ayaka and saber seemingly in their own world separated from the rest of the anime. They're on their own rom com anime while there's Holy Grail war ongoing lol. Nice transition from saber band session to fight ost.
Saber's guitar was basically the background music to the Herc/Gil fight.

Truly Sir Chadley.

i would say no but western animation is too shit for me not to say yes
avatar, spectacular spider-man, teen titans, and other various classics destroy it though

Truly Sir Chadley.
I like their dynamic, especially when Saber was called Ayaka's BF. She basically is at this point in the story lol. Its something we really haven't seen before, a very casual master-servant relationship.

Gonna go through and read Rave Master, getting another series I watched as a kid but never finished read through. From what I understand, the anime doesn't even end properly so no need to go through it. Though honestly I don't even remember too much about it. Just evil stones and Haru having a sword that he can upgrade in different ways with the power of Rave.

And of course, the infamous carrot-nosed dog, Plue.

I want a Waterworld spinoff so damn bad, I am still thinking about it. Damn I wish we had more manga like that set on the ocean.

You ever seen Suisei no Gargantia? It's the closest to Waterworld that I have seen in anime. No idea of manga like that though, sorry.

Watched the first episode of Sentenced to Be a Hero, beautifully animated, horrifically written, shame to see such stellar art wasted on some of the most dogshit world building and dialogue of all time.
Yeah, I never finished the first episode because of the bad writing. It looked nice but that just isn't enough to keep me engaged. I know Chibi Reviews is aping out over it, but that nigger also films himself crying at anime and manga so I mostly just watch him for shiggles. I really do not understand the hype.

Gotta love how Frieren's Demons continue to be unashamedly evil no matter what. The show has its flaws, but having absolutely evil monsters taken seriously is gold in Current Year (TM), as it triggers the woketards like goblins. Hell, the characters refer to a demon as "it", not a "they".
Loved the new episode of frieren, gotta love demons they do it just for the love of the game.
It is so damned refreshing to have monsters be monsters. I am sick and tired of moral ambiguity and "but someone was mean to them so they had to be evil!" types of justifications. I also loved the movie Dredd (2012) for that exact reason, since Ma-Ma was irredeemable and at no point was she presented as anything but evil that needed to be put down at any cost. I want more entertainment where the bad guys are just bad and there's no redeeming them.

I've been watching Cop Craft recently for whatever reason.
I don't think halfassed animation has physically hurt me as much as it has here, not even with Faraway Paladin.
That show was total trash. I tried it because Range Murata did the designs, but everything about it was just bad. I think I stopped watching when the girl swapped souls with a cat for some reason that I can't recall. Fusing high fantasy and modern contemporary settings can be a very cool idea, but the execution was awful all around.

Finished reading Land of the Lustrous. Apart from the interesting premise and unique art style, it was all over the place in terms of pacing and in general. Really strange but decent.
The middle act was a complete clusterfuck but the ending wasn't terrible.

Somehow the japs made a ballet battle anime... MC doing the Swan Lake pas de deux alone is like the in universe equivalent of Goku going ssj.

Is this what they call not judging a book by its cover?
