Given the Brazilian Netflix page leak that shows OPM 3 as "Part 1", are the actually going to split Season 3 and make a Part 2? And with how shit the animation has been, what will be the next low?

Well yeah, in this case: there was a pretty serious ticking clock going on with major consequences (which turned out to not even be a fake-out despite what ended up happening being slightly different than what they were worried about). Everything slowing them down was a major problem. Except the plane thing, which was part of my issue with it, since taking time to reach your destination is just kinda how planes work whether you get attacked by lizard people during the flight or not.

I understand being fatigued though, it probably didn't help that there was so much battling leading up to it. Personally I'm usually fine with this as long as the context is changing up and it's not some volume-long bullshit on a single fight, or the author completely forgets that they used to have regular shit going on between battles. But it seems to be returning to the non-fighting stuff currently.

I had some time this morning so I gave the whole arc another go, re-read everything since the Zuma search and I'll admit I was in the wrong here. I still think the plane fight was unnecessary and it's a shame the Kito's got stranded on the moon (I wanted to see an arc where they are reintroduced in a Hollow-Earth/Spirit World adventure) but I'll take back some of the criticism.

There were a lot of moving parts in the tiny Momo saga that I felt were going nowhere but having the fights be smaller scale with very local effects and the team-ups were unique so 2 thumbs up in the end.
I also liked the newer chapters where it's just school stuff and them taking things slower. I was getting fatigued of ever increasing stakes.

P.S. I still didn't see where the masked guys came from or who they where. I must be retarded, sorry. I'm going on a limb here and maybe, 20 episodes from now, Seiko will go: "I didn't send anyone for you..." and it will turn out these guys were Yokai that realize that the gang are the only ones taking the Alien threat seriously so the Yokai world has to lend a hand. But this is me speculating again.
 
You might be right about the masked guys. It'd be weird if both of us hallucinated it (I started replying before reading the other post), but either you're convincing me or I'm less confident after thinking about it. So just in case some surprise shit happens I will hedge my bets with this post.
 
I saw on manga plus some ad that was like "read the HOT and NEW thing! Black torch!" So me being a lemming clicked it and saw it had 19 chapters. Then I find out I had already ran and been called, and then I find out it's getting an anime. How tf does that happen?

I have a theory that the only reason its getting an anime is because it was Lins first series he was the editor on and that he's the editor and chief of Jump Plus he get to have more of a say what gets an anime.
That being said it wasn't a complete failure compare to other axe bait series, sales where alright at 20k-ish a volume and it was a monthly series so that 19 chapters would of translated to about 40-45 chapters if it was a weekly series.
 
for a set of depressing news, the mangaka of himouto umaru-chan has had recently made an interview that explained some behind the scenes stuff
but since there's no english subtitles, have a tweet chain that translates the important bits of this interview
TL'D notes from my IRL friend
1. Sankakuhead mentions that Umaru-chan as a character is based on his real sister. She appeared as being perfect on the outside, yet after getting back to home she was extremely lazy, was the inspiration of the manga after he observed her sister.

2. Around Volume 6-7 of the serialization (2015). His sister was diagnoised with a rare diseaae and started to live in the hospital for treatment. Even tho Sankakuhead tried his best to be positive and encourage her, the disease keeps getting worse

3. Around Volume 10-11 of the serialization (2017), his sister wasn't able to beat the disease and passed away. Sankakuhead at the time was deeply hit. EVen at times due to being in insane amount of grief he is going thru, he wasn't able to physically to bring himself to continue to draw Umaru-chan, and applied for a break at the editorial department.

4. During when the anime was celebrated by everyone, at congratulation dinners Sankakuhead pictures himself saying on stage "I am very happy". Yet at the same time he's enduring the pain of grieving losing a close a relative. These kind of conflicting feeling left him feeling complexed and confused.

5. Sankakuhead reveal that on the physical copies of Volume 11 the cover has a photo of a t-shirt, Said T-shirt was actually a gift to her sister. That picture was taken during when her sister personally wore it. He expressed that he hope this is a way of leaving proof that she was alive.

6. Back then he didn't reveal it to not leave readers feeling sad on a series supposed to be goofy and happy, He kept it private for the longest time. But now he hope that he can express his real self on his own youtube channel and also hope that the readers don't forget about Umaru-chan. Because to him it means that you all won't forget about his sister.

7. Sankakuhead at the intro of the video disclaimed numerous time that this is not a easy topic. It even can change the reader perspective on the work itself. But he chose to reveal on the ocassion that he has been a mangaka for 20 years now.

8. At the end, Sankakuhead said this while choking up:
"Umaru-chan as a character is my sister...I hope people don't forget about her. Umaru is proof of that she was alive, if I never had a sister, Umaru-chan as a character would've never existed. I only want Umaru-chan to never be forgotten forever, it means that my sister will be remembered by you all."

That's sad, at least having the support and memory of the work is helping the guy.

I do recommend Umaru-chan for people who want a fun watch that doesn't devolve into a guy wanting to fuck his otaku sister.

Which reminds me, holy shit Oreimo was so fucking bad, I'm happy it was wiped out from collective memory. Apperantly the manga ending killed any goodwill that remained, heard it was something along the line that the childhood friend was a crazy stalker, the actual sane love interest broke up with the MC, and the series ends on him telling his parents he wants to marry his sister and getting disowned.

The MC broke up with the sensible love interest, which makes it crazier. It's quite a feat for a manga to create a character that's basically everyone's idea of a perfect nerd girl & who becomes everyone's favorite character, only to have the MC dump her in favor of his sister.

Last I checked, there's an 'alternate' manga where the MC gets with Kuroneko (the girl everyone liked), and another where he gets with his sister's violently protective best friend.

It's very bittersweet, he truly loved his sister and now will forever have a keepsake of her. I wonder what she thought about the manga, though that was likely kept between siblings.

It's kinda hilarious that my own brother recommended the anime because he said Umaru was literally me, which I suppose is half-true lol, though the backstory changes the perception a lot. Man.

I guess a rewatch is in order...

Not if you want to try and stay up to date, what made me stop reading the manga was Murata and ONE (yes I blame him to since he gets final veto over every change and he's suggested a few in the past) going back and tweaking pervious chapters while writing the newest one, most where so minor that you'd never notice but some actually shift around plot points that made it very annoying to keep track,
I have been re reading the volume versions and the two things I noticed are their incredibly light reads, you could probably read all of the shit covered in all 3 seasons in the time it takes to watch season 1, and they actually removed all the flipbook animations from the web versions for bettor or worse.
