I never understood the fascination with cutting. When I was in univ we got some kids that used matches to "draw tattoos" on their skin. They'd put some saliva on the phosphorus and start scratching their legs and arms. That was my first encounter with self-mutilation, and never managed to understand the whys. Also, these kids were largely middle class and not disadvantaged in any obvious way. Peculiar.
As always, I tend to blame parents that refuse to fill their kid's time with something useful, like sending them to learn an instrument, training in some sport, anything social y'know.

Back in high school I knew this one girl who was a completely deranged slut, though I liked hanging out with her because she was funny. One time we were sitting outside she kept inching a lit cigarette towards my hand with a scared look in her eyes, I let it get about a couple of millimeters away from burning me before pulling my hand away. Crazy bitch, but she was still cute in her own fucked up way.

It wasn't really a friendship per se. She definitely wanted to fuck but was too unstable to make it happen. You could probably chalk it up to puberty on both our parts that we even hung out as long as we did.
