The argument that Quiet isn't real and that's why she needs to put some clothes on is possibly the most asinine one he could come up with. Her being not real is all the more reason to put her in a crazy outfit. Who cares if a few weirdos jerk off to her? The vast majority of us don't. Dressing video game characters like normal people would be boring. I don't want to see Quiet in jeans and a tee shirt.

Multiple outfits exist and you can dress her more modestly.

What is Dobson's goal here? Are we supposed to throw up our hands ans apologize for liking the game? If this isn't about censorship, why do I constantly hear how the outfit should be removed with something that covers her more?

How long can Dobson complain about this while providing no evidence of problematic scenes and no solutions? Who the fuck is being hurt by her outfit?
 
I think Dobsy's one-man moralistic crusade would have a bit more legitimacy if he talked with an actual woman* about their thoughts on Quiet's design, instead of deciding to fight against The Patriarchy on their behalf. It's a bit misogynistic to assume women are incapable of fighting their own battles, don't you think?

Well Wu got her long johns in a twist about it, that's about all he needs to decide "All women everywhere are being raped by this video game character merely existing!"

Also looking at some of the other MGS5 stuff, it appears to mainly be in a desert, or at least what little I've seen. As in 'damned good reason to dress lightly'. Trust me, the sjw-approved baggy "never show any curves you shitlord" clothing would probably kill someone through dehydration by sweating alone

"Oh no, they have to acknowledge that it is problematic" The fuck are you?! No one has to acknowledge dick to you about what they choose to enjoy their free time as no harm is done to no one.

I'm deeply concerned by the fact that he thinks that a bunch of polygons shaped to look like a woman need defending from a sexualized portrayal. Not only that it needs to be defended from his own creators! (Yes Dobson, IT, because it is a fictional character!) What kind of cultural Marxist are these SJWs that think that an author such as Kojima doesn't have creative control of his own work?

I hope that next time that Dobson does something stupid with one of his characters he gets told that it needs to be defended from him, I'll love to see how he chimps out at such a proposal.

Actually, extremely skimpy outfits are dangerous to wear in the desert, because there's a higher risk of exposure. It's better to wear light, cool outfits with multiple layers, much like actual people who live in the desert do.

The outfit is designed to be blatant fanservice. Dobson is arguing that female characters in video games should have a role other than blatant fanservice, because women deserve to be represented as actual characters. He knows she's not real and he doesn't feel the need to protect her feelings or anything. I think people are misinterpreting his argument, either intentionally or not. His actual argument's kind of autistic, you can just make fun of him for that instead of going off on some tangent that doesn't actually exist.

Nah, he's arguing that noting even close to fanservice should be allowed, ever. If a girl in a bikini top and pants is "blatant fanservice" then pretty much everything is, cleavage, tight jeans, big tits, you name it.

We all know there are women in gaming that are more than "fanservice", you, me, Dobby, SJW, everyone. Now i haven't played it myself but from what i heard she's pretty badass and her being in a bikini top doesn't take away from that. Nobody is looking at Snake without a top and screaming bloody murder.
