When one reads the comic and keeps in mind that Lesbiankick, Gypsy and Doormat are supposed to be a love-triangle it really begs the question: Does Dobbers know what romantic affection is supposed to be?

Lesbiankicks relationship with CaptainGypsy seems to boil down to her being a horny stupid creep while either getting assaulted verbally or physically.
Similar with Doormat, who's only the target of abuse and ridicule (pretty much from everyone).

Dobson lacks empathy.

Even when he receives love and affection from the likes of Jewish Girlfriend, he spurns it because it wasn't all about him. He is incapable of understanding human interaction and emotion.

Basically Dobson is autistic.

Interesting alternative style attempt, but it doesn't stop the mediocrity from flowing.

• Copy-pasted pirate ship silhouette.
• Her giant hoops hang from lobe piercings, which just look off to me.
• No evidence of a left arm.
  
• That's a weak-ass way to hold a sword, with a tiny hilt at that.
• Her belt looks like it's going to fall off.

You forgot the way her hand's holding the sword. It looks like there is no hilt on that sword. Also that face makes it look like she's bored and wants nothing to do with this.

Example backstory: the pirates ransacked a town and inadvertently kidnapped the boy by stealing a chest he hid inside. Now they're far away from his home, so he's stuck with them: totally out of his element, he tries to learn the ways of being a pirate. Maybe he's the only male on the ship, so initially he's harassed and treated like an outsider/indentured servant. He gradually proves his worth, and the lesser crew members start to look up to him. Although Alex and Lesbian Kick still don't give him any respect.

Still doesn't explain how they got a hold of Pervy the Pirate and the chipmunk-thing

Yeah. Having the aborted lovechild of Heathcliff and Garfield punch Doraemon, one of the most iconic and likeable characters of classic anime... smooth.

But what really gets me: That annoying cripple that steals Lum's top is pretty much a rip-off of Happosai from Ranma 1/2.
Both of which were made by Takahashi Rumiko.

This is just nitpick, but why ain't Alex sword a cutlass? You know, the sword that pirates in the caribbean were known to use? If she ain't gonna use a cutlass, can't she use a sword that don't look so.... expansive like that one. It got ruby and shit. If I was a pirate, I would sell that shit and get a cheaper sword. like this:

You know what pirates really liked to use? Guns. Even though they were crappy ass flintlocks, they took less skill to use than a sword and were cheaper. And you can have more than one. Just have, like, a sash covered in pistols that the character can grab, fire, and grab another one. That would actually look pretty cool.
But guns are hard to draw, so Dobson would never do it.

As for the placement of the thumb, Dobshit was always really bad at making objects and characters interact, even and especially when the characters are supposed to be holding the objects. It always looks like the objects just happen to be floating behind the hand.

I guess the belt with scabbard is supposed to convey a sense of motion and action. Pretty much like Alex just spun around and the sheath being flung way from her body.
It might be nitpicky, but usually Scabbards are attached rather firmly to the wearer's hip, since it's rathr annoying to have it dangle around while moving.

Yeah. A gun. She could have it in her left hand. IF SHE HAD ONE! I know a pose she could make: She is boarding a ship with a sword in one hand and a gun in another. Make it all action and stuff. Then I remember that this is Dobson and that would take work.

He joined an anime club in college and when they had a movie night he recommended a softcore hentai movie so they laughed him out of the club. Instead of blaming himself for being creepy he blames anime.

Dobson got thin skin. Most clubs screenings involve making wisecracks about what your watching. Be at masterwork or total shit making jokes at its expense is just a social situation.
