Why did Dobson start using a bear as his self-insert?

He got assblasted when someone pointed out he's a giant lardass but his self-insert was drawn as a young skinny dude. So he changed it to that shitty blue bear.

There is actually a joke in this comic, in that it contains both a set up and a punchline. It still manages to be unfunny because it's derivative as hell and Dobson telegraphs it like a chimp.

Why did Dobson start using a bear as his self-insert?

Well I think it was originally because people used to call him out for making himself thin and giving himself a full head of hair in his comics when IRL Dobson looks like an anthro potato with a half circle of hair on it's head, and to get them to shut up he decided to change the design. But since he couldn't bring himself to draw his character as fat and greasy as he is so he decided to draw himself as a bear (most likely to make himself cute). While not only does that not make any fucking sense, he also tried to incorporate a few of his physical features along with a few stereotypical "grumpy" ones which made the bear look sinfully ugly and smug.

When he changed it, Dobson went that extra step more or less. He may not have said it, but his comics did with the blue menace bitching about things just like Thin Dobson. No matter how many times he downplays it, it's his digital mouthpiece. I agree wholeheartedly on the punchable design. Gru treats his minions very well, can't say the same for Dobson and his fans.
