I wonder what the next fad Dobson will try to eke some fame out of will be. That wallpaper is a 15 minute job, tops and looks like shit in several ways.

Wow that lighting job is terrible, and those thick lines make her look so out of place. Where the hell is his light source coming from? I'd assume it's supposed to be above her, but his shading says otherwise.

He spent the whole month making that? I guess he wanted to rush through it so he could return to Splatoon and bitching about nothing on Twitter.
You got that wrong. Dobson played Splatoon and Skyrim all month long and then rushed this thing together within 2 or 3 days (starting July 31)
How much is Dobby boy getting paid on Patreon?
No matter what: it's too much.

I remember that one but I'm certain ive seen this month wall paper before.
If not the same then very very similar.

It's possible. It seems familiar to me too, but Dobby is such a bad artist and copies and pastes so much, it may just seem familiar.

Just make sure to pull it before you get charged. $1 is too much for what Dobson makes.
Doing that might reveal him. Dobs mentioned he's keeping a list of patrons and if someone flunks out before being charged, he'll ban him in the future...
Brianna Wu has finally noticed Dobson publicly, the time for scheming is now.

As mentioned earlier, Dobson blocked a twitter account simply for bringing up a very plausible story. Victim shaming much? Brianna Wu wouldn't like it. I think she needs to know.

While I'm not really against a bit of shit-stirring, this kinda feels weeny and wrong.
Not condemning you for doing it or telling you to stop, it's just more funny to confront Dobbers with his actual fuckups.
In a way, it's more entertaining to rub his face into the pile of shit he produced and watch him retch as he realizes that it's the unadultered truth. Making up stories gives him a convenient escape route of going "Everything is a LIE!".

I'm still not sure that deserves to be called a wallpaper. It's like he got a sketch to something he didn't want to finish, crop half of it off and stick on a google image.

Love the concept of the Lapis Lazuli wallpaper actually, but it was pretty poorly executed. The kinda lazy artstyle kind of clashes with the artstyle of the background....
It looks like he basically slapped the drawing of Lapis, which he made in like 10 minutes, on a background he invested more time on.

I like how the style of the background and the style of the character matches in no way shape or form

That is the main problem with the pic, the character is just slapped there on top of a background instead of being integrated with it. There is no variation in colors, not even a gradient to indicate the variation as sunlight loses its strength with depth. Just some inconsistent light bubbles and some dark ones with no variety in between.

A rush job if I've ever seen one, and again he makes the "wallpaper" with proportions that do not match any monitor aspect ratio: 2277 x 1133? Fucking why?!

If resized to standard HD numbers it ends up measuring either 2170 x 1080 or 1920 x 955, so if anyone ever wanted to use this wallpaper, they'll have to crop it themselves to fit without distortions. And by the way, it is 2015, if someone happens to own a 2.5K or 4K screen, that wallpaper is useless since it does not have a native resolution to avoid looking blurry once it is stretched to fit.

Does Dobson even understand the concept standards or giving his patrons even a bare minimum convenience as an usable wallpaper "out of the box"? , : " ... here I made these wallpapers for standard HD monitors so you can use right away and here are some 4K versions as well just to future proof my work."

Just how incompetent is this guy?!

It looks more to me like he either copied or directly pasted the background from a photo after running it through a photoshop filter to make it look slightly, but not entirely, less like a photo.

So, this is the second wallpaper he made that's not even remotely within standard resolutions?
What the fuck is this shit? With his AzP wallpaper, I joked he made it so you can crop out Furfag and Doormat and enjoy having Lesbainkick and GypsyPirate together... but here?

How can someone fuck that up? He's making artwork for a certain purpose (ie: a wallpaper), and he only hands it out in one size - which isn't even the size of a regular screen, let alone its aspect ratio...
Usually, artists offer such images in 2 or 3 different standard-resolutions, so you can pick up the one you can use the easiest. Dobs doesn't even hand out one.

So we all agree the blue lady has a fierce case of jock itch underwater... that's what it's supposed to be, right?

Like I know nothing of Steven Universe so this is a bit confusing for me, but can't she just swim to the surface with her arms once she's done jerking off/scratching?

Well far be it for me to insist Dobson portrayed something poorly but she's meant to be shackled under the ocean. Basically she fused with a major villain then used their combined powers to drag their form to the bottom of the ocean and has been struggling to keep said villain from regaining control or breaking free.

I'm not sure how you never got that impression from the wallpaper /sarcasm

She's fused with one of the main villains and is holding the villain hostage beneath the ocean, which is slowly chipping away at her sanity.

Edit: ninja'd

I'm...what? How does the entirety of this thing happen and you don't portray any of it in your fanart of the thing that happened?

If someone asked me to draw that scene, I'd still at least make the attempt to look up the scene I'm drawing and make sure people knew what was going on even though I know jack shit about the series and I can't draw for shit.

What's the old expression? "A picture is worth a thousand words"? Dobby managed to find an inverse of that.

Yeah. While someone already pointed out that it would've been cool if the lighting on the surface of the water were actually affecting her in the slightest, it still looks like she's sitting in a swimming pool under maybe an entire 6 feet of water at the most. If she's supposed to be on the goddamn ocean floor, how much cooler would it have been if she were lit from below instead, by undersea volcano/hydrothermal vent, or bioluminescent sea creatures or some shit. And maybe if she had an emotion on her face that was more intense than "mildly disappointed and inconvenienced." And if the villain she's shackled to were present at all. And... well, if the image were creative or interesting at all.

The funny thing: the resulting orange vs. blue contrast is something that is used a lot in different artworks for, say, movie and game covers/posters. While kinda overused, it would still have made this artwork a lot more interesting and striking to look at.
Then again, Lapis Lazuli is blue, so Dobs has to paint her blue, cause his imagination doesn't allow for her to appear in any other way.

Now, let's not get ahead of ourselves... It's not like Dobbers had a whole month to work on this monthly wallpaper or anything. The guy has to mop up vomit stains in a McDonalds and Splatoon isn't going to play itself...
