Problem is, he's not "starving" us of anything as long as tries to compete with Wu for biggest twitter slave.

Well I never said it was a good plan.....
so far all his lack of work ethic is hurting is his bank balance

Agreed! He thinks he's King Feminist, as if his sad-sack opinion matters to anyfuckingbody on Earth.

Most of the people he retweets and @s to just ignore his dumb, creepy nonsense.

Remember how he kept mentioning he was A Feminist (caps used advisedly) in his review of the new Avengers movie? I kind of hoped he would start prefacing every opinion he has with his status as A Feminist.

"As A Feminist, this coffee tastes bad"

"As A Feminist, I'm going to wait for the next bus rather than run for this one"

"As A Feminist, I found a nickel between the couch cushions"

Etc etc

Yes, because when I read a comic where people are able to shoot lasers from their eyes and battle larger-than-life villains the first thing I consider, is if their bodily proportions are realistic compared to real world standards.
Not the anatomy, mind you, their muscle definition and looks. I sit down, look at the panels and think "Well this stylized characters depicting shining heroes and evil villains have surely highly stylized physiques, that won't look/work that well in the real world."

You know, like if you are complaining that your new ride does not have a proper trunk, but the bike-dealer only blinks in confusion at you.
Those tweets come from a guy who has a hard on for his Mary Sue, Thunderbolt Ross. He bitches about people who do cheesecake art, yet does the same to his own character/waifu.

You know, I would love for someone to simply ask Dobson to describe, fully, one of his characters in Alex ze Pirate. Whether it's Alex or... the characters who aren't Alex (uhmmm... Lesbian Kick, the Straight Kid, Peggy, and... that one weird thingie), I would just want him to sit down and just tell us about this character.

Who is this character?

What is her personality?

Why does she do what she does?

How did she end up where she is?

What is she ultimately trying to do?

You know... the things that go into worldbuilding. Motivation. A fleshed out character. ... You know, the thing he promised to do in the reboot.

(I would just like to mention that... uhhhh... "lesbian" isn't a personality trait.)

Well damn, you sunk his one character with a personality trait... except "pervert" for the not-captain since I doubt "white boy" counts as a personality either.

With how much I love building on lesser-developed characters, maybe I should take a shot at doing this. Both personal use and interpretations of AzP characters!

A thinly veiled pot shot at the "haters" and "trolls".

Seeing that dreadful, defensive, self-deluding, self-serving cartoon...inspires! :heart-full:

Edited as I noticed one or two spots that needed a little retouching.
...Well, if you're going to do something, you might as well do a decent job of it, right? ;)

Última edición:
I bet he does the doublespeak approach, you criticize the lack of character depth, and he'll say "It's just an eye candy comic! They aren't supposed to have depth!"

But if you criticize the artwork, he'll say "It's not about how they're drawn, it's the STORY!"

Hard to hit those goalposts where they're always in motion isn't it?

This might count as powerleveling, but something that's kinda interested me are characters that wear some of their sexual quirks on their sleeve. Like, they're not blatantly showing it off but they make so many vague allusions to things that arouse them or aren't afraid to say "... Yeah, that shit turns me on. Moving on now?" I mean, with the whole Tumblr crowd of wanting to have nine different sexualities, seven different fetishes, and forty-four different genders, you would think that someone, somewhere out there would try to take this type of approach with a character. Like, having a character where this weird little sexual quirk was "a thing" instead of "the thing" that defined them. I mean, I know this is Tumblr we're talking about and it's an ocean of shit amidst an even larger ocean of shit, but part of me wanted to hope that someone could do that sort of concept right. Hell, I'm trying to kick around a character concept like this myself.

But whenever I see Dobson doing shit like releasing a comic where the characters are colored according to what their sexual preferences are, as if that's the one thing that should immediately define them, I'm like...

I mean, there's trying to be inclusive and show diversity, and then just shoving in special snowflake traits because it makes them special snowflakes.

No, that's all perfectly reasonable - I can think of people who are capable, in their work, of distinguishing the difference between "occasional sly reference" and "sperg out completely about your diaper Juggafur fetish or what-have-you". And while we're on the subject, I recall J Flaxman saying in his DA comments how, if only Dobson could learn to treat himself and his situation with a sense of humour, occasionally depict his bearsona as humbled or humilated via his own stupidity, and make the odd humorous reference to his past as an inflation fetish artist, he'd be received a lot more warmly. But then, whoever said being right all the time is easy? ;)

As I said before, that would require effort.

No matter how much you deny it. He'll find a way to claim "lesbian", or any form of sexual preference, is a character trait. And beyond that, I doubt he'll come up with character for his, um... characters, I guess?

And he wouldn't even realize how prejudiced that is. It's like making a character whose sole personality trait is being black.
