Why the fuck does Dobson even care? He's made it abundantly clear he has no interest in The Phantom Pain, and he knows nothing about the series. And yet here he is, going on a really racist-sounding rant about absolutely nothing. What reaction was he looking for? Japanese people coming forward and going "Oh Dobson, me so sorry!"?

Dobson can just get bent, holy shit this is even more retarded than his Batman sperging.

Dobson cares because Brianna Wu cares
And if Brianna cares about something then Dobbie bear wants Brianna to know he cares

And Dobsons tweet cant be racist cause its Dobson....everyone else is racially insensitive.
All Dobbie managed to do is get me more Hyped for Phantom Pain.

Probably. It's amazing how he latched onto Quiet tough, not saying a word about
Paz "Bombs? In my vagina?" Ortega and the other situation with Chico.

But then again... It's Dobson. Oddly conservative in his progressiveness, he only cares about sexism when it's about uncovered boobies.

Wasn't he just tweeting about how it was wrong to criticize artists for stuff they draw, as long as they enjoy it?

Also this is a bit late but how are Powerpuff girls or Spongebob deep or moving in any possible way? I was really into Spongebob as a kid and I never saw it as deep at all, what show did he watch?

Well to the first part the standard answer is "Dobson is a hypocrite at a level that dwarfs anything CWC ever says"

To the second part I totally agree. Unless there was a episode of the powerpuff girls that dealt with domestic abuse or an episode in which sponge-bob helped Mr Krabs deal with testicular cancer then I think the point of those shows is just comedy hi-jinx with the occasional positive message.

Eh, Powerpuff Girls had it's moments when it was actually trying to teach kids a lesson (still pretty simple like 'don't push away someone just because they're ugly' or *cough* 'don't use social issues just to be a douche' *cough*), but Spongebob...?

The only depths it has are that the story takes place under water.

Well, it's nothing new that Dobby and a lot of tumblrfolk tends to overanalyze and cherrypick children shows to show how much they're superior from 'adult entertainment'.

Just look at the current sperging surrounding Inside Out.

I'm a bit curious and would like to know more about that. Is there a thread I can see here on that?

I'm mostly curious because while I can't see Dobbo flailing about it until it's been years out (like the inattentive fuck he is) I can envision some of the failure derived from that.

Dobbo's latest shitty Patreon update. Warning: Nookie Bear is over the top smug in this.

Just to get this right:
Dobson figured out that a "mature movie", a "mature book" and so forth is a piece of media that is aimed at a mature audience. He also figured out, that "mature themes" can be something like the "inevitability of death", "deep emotional conflict" and don't need to be "sex", "swearing" and "gore". And then had to tell everyone, that this is the reason why a story "aimed at children" has the potential to touch adults on a emotional level.

Dobson really believes that his insights are a shining beacon to everyone else, that he has insights only a few people share.

Well perhaps he had to say that, I mean.... it's not like Harry Potter exists or something...

Not that I know of, it's mostly the usual Tumblr bullshit.

Ones I've seen are 'Riley's trans because her emotions are a mix of genders rather than all female', 'Riley's mum has depression because her Sadness is in charge, whereas her dad's Anger is in charge, so he's probably abusive and shit', Pixar are paedos for animating baby arse, and claiming races, sexualities and genders for the emotions.

Gotta be honest if I personified my emotions they wouldn't just be a bunch of guys.
I guess things like hope, compassion and empathy would all be female whereas Anger, regret, sloth would likely be guys.
Does that make me trans ?

Ah, Dobbers is offended by 'just another weird thing that might or might not sprang from Kojimas mind'.

Can we throw a burka over Dobbles, there might or might not be a few Saudis who take offense by the sight of a giant pussy... might be easier on the eyes as well.

Dobbies still butt hurt because naked raiden made him have the "bad feeling" and he had to go look at lesbians till it went away

*rubs temples* The game isn't even out yet, but he has to play the giant WHITE knight who will SAVE THE SAVAGE JAPS and show them the right way.

This is seriously one of the most insanely moronic things I've ever seen from Dobson. The guy's not qualified to give his opinion on these issues and doesn't know what he's talking about. He just does it for asspats.

Whatever happened to letting artistic creation be unhindered from censorship? Freedom of expression means having the license to offend. Being offended by a piece of content in media is no even a valid argument to censor anything. Kojima's right to freedom of expression and artistic integrity are not subordinated to anyone's sense of offense towards said content.

SJWs are all about control and censorship, no wonder Dobson sympathizes with these fucking emotional totalitarians.

I'm a little late to the patreon stuff, but here's what I was gonna say anyway: Dobs is confusing "mature" with "deeply emotional". Mature movies means that they have sex, violence or drugs, which are considered "mature subjects" because you have to be an adult to really understand those touchy subjects. So yeah, labeling something as mature is just about certain aspects of the movie or serie and it has NOTHING to do with how deep or emotional (that causes any kind of strong emotion) the thing itself is.

Just to get this right:

I see what you're saying - essentially, that maturity of subject matter and maturity of treatment are two different things. And I suppose I just wanted to apologise if I appeared to be taking a terribly snobbish, condescending attitude towards cartoons. Like, "oh, Spongebob Squarepants - expresses the basic Existential dilemmas of the human condition so profoundly"... It's just that, with the possible exception of "Up" (which I understand dealt with death, the grieving process etc.), Dobson seems to have chosen such exceptionally fluffy examples of media intended - first and foremost - for children. Which makes his claims to "maturity" laughable.

Can any Kiwis who really know their animation perhaps share examples of cartoons that take "mature" themes - and cover them in a mature way? (Powerlevelling terribly here, but - well, "Ren and Stimpy" was the last cartoon I paid any serious attention to, so I really have no idea what I'm talking about! )

King Of The Hill is probably the best example, Rugrats had it's moments.

Adventure time sort of deals with dementia pretty well with the ice king, its also dealt with the idea of mortality, parental responsibility and sanctity of life....but in a fun way.
Its been argued that Rockos modern life dealt with the idea of depression and failure to find meaning in life. I think Bev Bighead rockos frog neighbor planned on having an affair as she felt sexual unfulfilled at one point (this wasn't reading between the lines - it was made VERY clear).
Hey Arnold dealt with a bunch of issues without getting to preachy.

Not really in theme of the topic but Paranorman managed to surprise me by having
dumb Jock love interest who turns out to be gay....nice to see that you dont have to be portrayed as the flowery sensitive type to be gay these days.
