I don't care much about superheroes, but I'm rather sure that this Batman-dictator thing has been done in a parallel universe "what if"-style comic at some time.

BTW in his essay on superman, Umberto Eco pointed out that this type of superhero constantly keeps below their actual abilities. Superman could abolish poverty, end wars, unite humanity with his powers, yet he mainly keeps chasing after local criminals (or travels into far away galaxies).

What the fuck is he even talking about? The most recent Batman is The Dark Knight Rises, in which Batman follows the no guns, no killing rule, even at one point literally saying (to Catwoman): "No guns. No killing."

It's also more likely that they didn't publish Miller's al-Qaeda outing because it was as shitty as All Star "I'm the Goddamn" Batman and Robin than because it was offensive.

But the most recent Batman movies are not the Frank Miller version.

btw, while I don't like Frank Miller and have not read Dark Knight Rises, I did quickly skim over the plot synopsis. Hey, uh, Dobson, we're talking a dystopian, nightmarish world where the government, headed by Lex Luther and Brainiac, has control over the world and the superheroes and Batman is literally leading an underground revolution to try and usurp power from the government, knowing full well that there is no possible way to have the best possible scenario and that the normal convictions and morals of heroes have to be compromised or else you risk everything being undone by Lex Luther.

Context is key, Dobson. I don't even like Miller and I can see where he was trying to come from. ... And it wasn't Hitler.
