But didn't the PS3 do pretty well? Even if didn't you don't want to play games it was a pretty cheap Bluray / media player.A 30+ year old man feeling smug about winning a console war.

How unbelievably sad
I wouldn't call the PS3 a failure as it has sold at least 80 milion copies (numbers from 2013). Did it underperform compared to PS1 and PS2? Of course it did,but it still sold a lot.A 30+ year old man feeling smug about winning a console war.

It also single-handedly turned the tides in favor of the blu-ray format.I wouldn't call the PS3 a failure as it has sold at least 80 milion copies (numbers from 2013). Did it underperform compared to PS1 and PS2? Of course it did,but it still sold a lot.
But yeah, when Dobson hears these consoles sold at a loss in the beginning, he doesn't grasp this is meant to secure a big market share until the production is streamlined (and thus more cost efficient).
Yeah. But it wasn't like this in the 90s, so Dobson's inability to comprehend non-90s stuff leaves him up inflation creek without a bikepump.Wasn't that the standard business model for consoles in the 00s - to sell the systems at a loss and make it back (and then some) with the games?
Well. Not gonna sperg about Vidya (too much), but while Nintendo might not be the biggest console seller, they certainly aren't someone to be overlooked. They've got enough money in their bank account to be able to afford annual net losses of more than 250 million dollars and their money wouldn't dry up for the next 4 decades. And that is before they even think about selling their immensly expensive property in Kyoto and Tokyo. Or their IPs.Last I checked the PS4 is selling more than the Xbox One and Wii U combined. Of course console sales are just slower this gen as a whole but still: only the most stubborn Nintendo fanboy like Dobson would say Nintendo is doing well.
And with the PS4 games announced at E3, no doubt sales are going to increase even more. Dobson isn't the kind of person to research that kind of thing, though. Hell, he goes around insinuating that everyone hates Splatoon except him, even if it's done pretty damn well for itself. Researching things would mean he'd have to admit that he's not perfect and doesn't know everything. It would also mean he'd have to admit when he's wrong, but we all know he's not capable of that.Last I checked the PS4 is selling more than the Xbox One and Wii U combined. Don't forget their absurdly expensive Manhattan property as well. Nintendo is fucking loaded. And they're branching out into general electronics once again too, so even if they're unable to keep making games once Miyamoto retires, I don't think the big N is going anywhere for a long time.Yeah. But it wasn't like this in the 90s, so Dobson's inability to comprehend non-90s stuff leaves him up inflation creek without a bikepump.

Doesn't he use a Mac?Just a hunch, but getting a job where you don't wear a paper hat might be a start.
Damn, I totally forgot! Yeah, that explains a lot. Upgrading will cost him an arm and a leg and won't help him with gaming at all (afaik, Macs really don't work well with vidya...).Doesn't he use a Mac?![]()
I think people buy it for the "look at how I'm different!" image. The original lure used to be in the 80s and 90s, but now pretty much everyone uses photoshop, which is available on both Windows and OS X, it doesn't really matter.I've heard Macs are good for artists. Are there just more art programs available for Macs?
The only popular ones that I know that are Windows-only are Krita (I think the Linux version is beta), Pixia and PaintToolSai. There's a usually a Mac version for most of the popular art/photo programs.I've heard Macs are good for artists. Are there just more art programs available for Macs?
Yeah, Macs are really lacking when it comes to convenient upgrades unlike the PC. Kinda like game consoles, I've noticed.Damn, I totally forgot! Yeah, that explains a lot.
