Dobson has (poorly) edited a WW2 propaganda poster

What does everyone think?
When he says he made a few changes for the better, what is he talking about? It doesn't make any kind of sense, anymore.
"Gee, I wish I were a man" -> "Be a man and do it" ... ?
Is this supposed to be empowering to women, is it supposed to make fun of people who join the navy, is it supposed to be uplifting and get you in a mood to get shit done?

I don't get it.

I don't either. If anything it's sexist for saying women need to be men to join the military :)

I've decided to fill him in on that

If he were a smarter man, I'd assume it has something to do with Bernice Smith (the woman in the poster) actually joining the navy for a short stint. It was a WW1 era poster though. That, and Dobson is a fucking idiot.

I think the improvement is supposed to be changing a navy recruitment poster into a transgender recruitment poster. I'm basically interpreting is as woman says "I want to be a man" so his reply is "Then be a man"

Nah that would actually be somewhat inspirational. If it has any sort of positive impact on someone, then it wasn't made by Andrew Dobson.

As Ass Manager 3000 already said: Nah, that's too smart for Dobson.

Also, it's not really like him, to support transgendered people. Now if he took the image of the sailor kissing that girl in Times Square and replaced him with a girl, that would have been much more like his usual lesbian fetish.

Edit:
maid of oh god.jpg

It seems he's drawing something involving two people kissing. Be afraid, fellow Kiwis, be very afraid.

I gotta say, it's hilarious that Dobson is getting into Tolkien, seeing as how the LOTR franchise is notorious for having almost no interesting female characters. Like, Peter Jackson had to retcon a female elf for the Hobbit films because I don't think there's even a single female character in the book.

Yes, so bullshit! Dobs got the war wrong, he doesn't know the context, and he thinks it's about being trans or something instead of boosting recruiting by evoking women who wanted to be part of the military at a time when they couldn't (though that changed over the course of World War I, as you point out).

Fuck you, Dobs, you suck at both history and feminism. Oh, and typographical design, replacing that glorious hand lettering with some squat, ugly font.

Furthermore, you'll notice he doesn't draw people looking believably happy. He can't seem to draw a positive facial expression that's not cartoonish (and as I said earlier, looks more angry than happy), or appearing forced.

As you point out, the muscle movement of a genuine smile has impact across the entire face. For instance, the fascia around the eyes wrinkle, so you can see a smile in the eyes. The person's body also relaxes. In a fake smile, a person just consciously draws back the mouth and exposes the teeth. Dobson's asshole bear fursona always does this fake asshole smile.

I don't know if he's consciously doing it, but that's why when you see it, you want to kick it in the face. And then kick Dobson in the face, too.

Something tells me he's using his own face as reference. He's probably smiling into a mirror then basing his smiles on that. So he's replicating a fake smile on a punchable face time and time again.

He's already envisioning fanart with genderflipped dwarves.
