I don't know the context to be fair. I don't tend to watch the Nintendo E3 conference as I don't particularly care about Mario or Zelda. I'm sure someone who did watch it will be gracious enough to explain.

During the Nintendo digital event, they announced a new Zelda game where you can find clothes to wear that affect your stats. When talking about this, they showed a brief shot of Link wearing a "Princess Zelda Dress" costume.

Thank god it's some inconsequential bullshit. For a moment, I was actually thinking he was petty enough to shoehorn GG into the church-shooting.
 
I'll fill my time-honored role of Devil's advocate and write up a TL;DR.

I can sort-of believe that Dobson has suffered prolonged mental anguish from the result of the water spray. I place Dobson and DSP in a unique category of what I call a "careercow", which is a Lolcow who's primary method of entertainment is failing at a career they could potentially be successful at. DSP carried a large fanbase and if he had treated it and responded to it better, he could be a big player still. Dobson, back in the day, also had a very serious cult on deviantArt. He was a massive inspiration to developing artists on the site, and it's the reason why ForeverPandering made the videos in OP: Dobson was a false prophet to him.

Dobson has repeatedly drawn comics of himself at panels suffering from anxiety. We all get anxious, even if we're handsome Swedish men with yarn dolls. The thing is, I think Dobson convinced himself that if he started attending conventions and selling his comic books in person, he would make a name for himself. His dream of being a professional artist would come to fruition and he'd pan out being a freelance artist drawing only what he loves. That did not happen.

Instead, he got #TYCED. Some little kids pulled a prank on him and embarrassed him in public. They probably even damaged his comics with some water. It was a cruel joke, and I personally would have been livid. So what you potentially have is a massive build-up of intense suspension, a hopeful impetus pushing him out of comfort zones to attend events that could lead to dream fulfillment, and a massive letdown spearheaded by some kids with water guns.

So now, a hopeless and oafish aging man with no spouse and no real career, he thinks back to the waterguns as symbolic dampening of his match. Not gonna lie, I feel for Dobbles. I wish he had gotten better at some point.

True that. Dobson is a very sad person that leads a very sad existence and if he hadn't been such a constant asshole, I might even feel sorry for him, but he racked up so many douchepoints over the years... :heart-empty:

I guess Dobson felt "at home" and safe at the conventions, yet when he was attacked, that fantasy crumbled. There's people who develop severe traumata after being the victims of a burglary. They don't even have to be present when it happens, but the idea that their "sanctuary" (so to speak) being invaded by an unknown foreign force - well, it can really traumatize people.
The same might have happened to Dobson, he felt safe and like he was in good company and some tard of a ween ruins it by spraying him with water.

And ultimately, with his failing career and trolls commenting and criticising him left and right, Dobson boils it all down to this one moment where he was genuinely attacked as the one infernal incident that stands as a symbol for his entire suffering.

Thing is: he was sprayed with water. Yeah, it's rude and nasty to do such a thing (even to Dobson)... but it was just a few squirts of water. I can see this being an unpleasant experience that can really take the wind out of your sails and depress you... but to call it PTSD? That seems a bit much.
 
Maybe he's misdiagnosed.
The symptoms of psychosis and the symptoms of PTSD are alike.

The vivid flashbacks of PTSD can be similar to, or the same as, hallucinations. The intense fear and 're-experiencing' symptoms of PTSD can be akin to delusions that people who have psychosis experience.

Both PTSD and psychosis can lead to disturbed sleep patterns, difficulty concentrating, personal neglect and withdrawal from other people. The paranoia often associated with psychosis can mirror the hyper-vigilance that people with PTSD may experience...

Researchers think people may sometimes be misdiagnosed, particularly if GPs and mental health professionals don’t ask about traumatic events an individual may have experienced in the past.

Doesn't count because it's not Nintendo. He only plays Nintendo games, despite doing a lot of comics about video games if you look back it's all just Nintendo and any other game is just used as a brown and bloom so serious and so boring dull drab counterpoint to happy colourful bouncy time Nintendo.

As for the water incident, that's got to be the biggest pile of idiocy I've ever read from the guy. And considering all the shit he's said in that past, that's saying a lot. I mean come on, how can you develop a PTSD over someone spraying water on you. Next he'll be saying he just hates water in general.

Come to think of it, Dobbo doesn't look like he's showered in a long time, so who knows?

I don't think water's his trigger. I'm betting on things that spray liquid in general. I'd wager he hasn't washed his windows in forever because every time he thinks about buying window cleaner he has a panic attack.
