Actually that is a photoshop effect, it's fairly simple to do as well
I gazed too deeply into the void. Now all I see are premade brushes. The inkling picture doesn't even try to hide it.

It boggles my mind how he manages to draw exclusively unsympathetic looking characters. I don't know anything about this game (well, it is about paint-shooting squid people, I gathered that much), but Google tells me that this girl is supposed to look like this:New dobson artwork

When you yourself are unsympathetic, it tends to reflect on your shit. Be it art, rants or general personality and relationships. Dobby's the embodiment of all things shitty when it comes to art.It boggles my mind how he manages to draw exclusively unsympathetic looking characters. Kinda cute, methinks.
Nookie Bear turns the poor little thing into one of his ill-tempered monstrosities, shame on him.
Another thing: He drew her ears in the shape of elf ears, probably subconsciously returning to his shitty Atea character. The character design by Nintendo shows her ears in the shape of squid fins though, thus following the human/cephalopod hybrid theme.
Because Dobson drew it.Why's it so goddamn ugly?
Now that you mention it, the style I guess that Dobson was trying to nail was this one:(Art critic time, so excuse me, here...)
Dobson is experimenting with more vibrant colour than usual...Although, there is still something unnatural and rigid about his posing.
Artists here will know what I mean when I say Andy seems to have trouble just letting loose with his lines and creating nice figure work.
On the profit side, he is at least drawing one of the hands quite well...The one holding the gun, not so much...
If Dobs got his head down and done some comic work regularly, he might get back into good practice...
It's kinda appalling considering he's spent about 100 hours in Splatoon this week and only 1 hour in Photoshop that he'd make that mistake, although I guess those hours were spent staring at squidgirl butt not squidgirl headflaps. The character design by Nintendo shows her ears in the shape of squid fins though, thus following the human/cephalopod hybrid theme.

Dobson should just check his existence privileges and rethink his life. Cause this obsession of making terribad drawings, bitching on twitter and slacking off does not feel healthy at all.I want to play Splatoon but I don't have a WiiU.
Dobson should check his console privilege.
I dunno, a few of his pictures look like they were constructed from the basics, which does explain why everything looks so pear-shaped at times.I also want to bring up that he doesn't seem to follow even basic animation construction.. Layman: Dobs draws freehand, not building the character in spherical, blocky or cylindrical forms. This also adds a bit of flatness to the picture. It goes without saying he is lazy, but it goes double when he is LE ARTISTE, the undiscovered Don Bluth, one of the great animators. Even now, if you work in comics, you can turn that into an animation career.
In a dark, alternate universe, the head animator at disney posts this on twitter. Thank god this isn't that universe.New dobson artwork

At least, if you get it later, will have more content and you will feel better over expending 60 dollars. Don't get me wrong, is a great game but waiting for the big summer update is going to be painful.I want to play Splatoon but I don't have a WiiU.
