Probably not, and considering how long he holds grudges, he probably still hates that fella... a lot.

You know how much Dobson hates his high school bully? The one he hasn't interacted with in decades? Now imagine the hate-boner he has for the guy who sprayed him with water and made him hate cons forever.
Imagine the hate for the HS bully, the anime club, 4chan, ED and his DA trolls rolled into one. That guy basically destroyed Dobby's chances. After that Dobby has become even more reclusive and insular.

Time to critique this to hell? Time to critique this to hell.

Despite having what may be the largest and most obvious light source I have ever seen on an image ever, the shading seems to follow absolutely no light source at all. It is composed of nothing but a blobby light patch in the center of various portions of objects. Like someone else said - pillowy as hell. He also still appears to be shading with black, which is the worst thing you could do in a case like this, where the light source has an extremely obvious blue tint. A blue light, as a general rule, will cast orange/red shadows. (It's actually an interesting property of light, multiple different colored lights will cast multiple different colored shadows, and the shadow is always the opposite color of the light. I am mostly writing up this crit so I can point this out because this lighting shit is cool and maybe someone here who draws stuff will learn a thing.)

Dobson's doing the exact opposite of this therefore his lighting/shadows look even more flat and dead than usual which is a goddamn accomplishment.

He looks like he is making a halfassed attempt at implying cast shadows by blocking off some of the light in the background - those "rays" of shadow behind the gun and both characters' ears. This is completely lost, however, by the fact that there are absolutely no cast shadows actually in the shading itself. If Rocket's head is behind the gun as it appears to be, it would be casting some shadow on his face, and especially his chest/stomach area. Instead that appears to be fully lit. There is no cast shadow on his tail from his head. And although exactly where the hell Stitch is supposed to be positioned is another problem entirely, if he is behind Rocket then there would be some sort of cast shadow from him, his arm, etc. We got nuthin. This contributes just as much to the 2-dimensional feel of the whole thing as the placement does.

And damn the placement is pretty bad. look at the two character's feet in the center, Stitch's foot is so close that it would have to be touching, if not completely overlapping Rocket's foot. He's also poking him in the elbow and groping his pants. They are crowding each other to a ridiculous degree. Dobson completely fails at thinking of characters he draws as being 3-dimensional forms interacting in space. They're cardboard cutouts. Same goes for the gun, and his similar continual failure at making hands holding objects look like they are actually holding objects, rather than just hovering next to them in space. Particularly the thumb on that trigger finger hand there. It absolutely does not look like he is holding that gun at all.

Dobson also continues to forget that you probably shouldn't put lines all over a character's face unless they're 80 years old. Stitch in particular looks like an ancient, tired, saggy-eyed muppet. With large squishy fish lips for some reason. The amount he is off-model is also really fucking unnerving, and paradoxically enough, it is as unnerving as it is because you can tell he is seriously trying to make it as on-model as possible and just falling short. If an artist draws a character that is off-model because they adapt and interpret it to their own style, while keeping the same basic rules and proportions, it looks fine. He looks like he is attempting to eyeball-copy official Disney art and just doing a very bad job of it. Dobson has accomplished uncanny valley when it comes to badly copying Disney art and the creepy result isn't even an interesting or appealing variety of creepy. Terrible.

Netflix series. Though Dobby was crying over how dark it was and that they killed an animal so he was never watching it anymore because it hurt his feefees. Not sure what changed other than Jessica Jones is new spank material.

There's half a point to that artistic growth analogy. It isn't just a formula, some people can spend ages stuck in a rut and then rather suddenly noticing something that might make a difference and boom, improvement.
Problem is, Dobson's "growth" is not a tree, it is just a stump.

Well I don't even think it's so much as that. I mean, some people will probably have some particular character traits they might focus on a lot to the point where their favourites often have some shared traits even in otherwise unrelated characters. For instance I tend to be drawn to characters that are comedic jerks or similar (such as the two lil' shits in my icon, Wario, The Koopalings, ect) I'm sure I'm not the only one that gets drawn to particular traits.

What makes it creepy is the way he has to make it seem like ~activism~ nono, he's not obsessed with lesbians he's.. uh... pro LGBT rights! Overly drawn to female youth? Uh... feminism!

Thing is, it makes something a person would otherwise write off as benign or at least ignorable incredibly suspicious, as if he thinks it would be something "dirty" if he didn't dress it up as activism.
Very well said - !
The lack of honesty is definitely a Dobson feature...

Are they floating in some parallel Dimension or what? Seriously, the washed out shadows don't match the light-source at all, neither their shape, nor their placement. It's certainly an accomplishment to have 2 characters fail at interacting with each other so much while also having them fail to interact/match the background.
The shading makes them look like pudding and Stitch is doing his best "black metal" pose.
And the worst, I somehow got the feeling that Dobson is partially doing this to show how he'd fit into Disney since he's so versatile and well-able to draw their iconic characters.

That's what got me scratching my head too. Why would you need money just to get you to make art? Sure it's nice to have some money, but that shouldn't be the foundation on why you draw.
To Dobson, money is the world's globally standardized version of an asspat. He obviously doesn't give a shit about people that have kind words to him, he'll acknowledge the nice words and move on to bitch about 'trolls', 'haters' and lesbianism... he wants the money.
Also Dobson is the kind of buffoon that holds his own motivation hostage. "Give me money or I won't do the thing I want to do anyway!".

Anyone else notice his recent affinity to backgrounds which are plain vector stripes radiating from the characters? That's somehow lazier than a gradient/plain background - almost like it's his elementary idea of 'emphasizing' his characters.
I noticed too. While they are a lot more interesting to look at than his gradients or the mess of a background in his mad hatter cosplay, they are still incredibly lazy. The son of Dob himself said it's best to infuse backgrounds with 'personality' and treat them as a character...
No surprise his backgrounds are devoid of any charm, interesting traits or something to make them stand out, when you think about it from this angle.
I think it'd be more appropriate to just send him to his room and throw away the key and his computer.

Also, last I checked, Rocket didn't have pink gloves. Or gloves at all if we're talking about the current version.
Did he have Gloves in some irrelevant, obscure 90s material?

You know, I just realized that this is really similar to what emotional baggage Chris-Chan deals with. He's got his cyberbullies, MLW, CADD Chef and the likes... a shitton of people that pissed him off decades ago with pretty much just doing their respective jobs and Chris just can't let go - but whereas Dobson makes whiny tweets, Chris at least made these people characters in his magnum opus.
So yeah, Chris deals with his nemesis' in a more entertaining manner.

Now that you mentioned it, Dobson and Chris Chan are similar. Isn't Chris facing some time for macing a GameStop employee?

He has went to trial a few times by now, but he always went for a straight conutinuation without any kind of outcome. This will take some time, but I wouldn't be surprised if he managed to get away with a slap at the wrist. Again.

Back to topic, though.
Yeah, Dobson and Chris share some particularly annoying traits, like their infatuation with lesbians or their obsession with stuff they are clearly too old for.
But there's one huge difference between Chris-Chan and Dobson. As of his latest medallion- and amiibo-sales on ebay, you can actually consider Chris-Chan to be a legitimate artist that manages to earn quite some money on his arts. The same can't be said about Dobson. :heart-empty:

I wanted to redraw the Rocket Raccoon picture but I had a lot of trouble making a cartoon raccoon that does look like a cat making an "I like guns n shit" face
I had a raccoon OC when I was younger and sometimes I draw him again for funsies, I have a tough time not making him a cat but Dobbles seems to have a strange problem where he draws him like a fat weasel

Dobson's been quiet recently. Must be putting in hours of Splatoon.

*sigh* So when's the fanart coming?
I'm guessing because some people play the harder difficulties and challenges instead of playing the same game mode and stage on easy all day, Dobs.
