Yeah it sure was great when you had to watch fansubs in realmedia format, those were the days.
Try the olden days of the digisub vhs trades. You were happy to get something that was only 5 generations of copying. Getting through something like Maison Ikkoku with almost 100 episodes... Ugh.

Some of us are just old.

I can see it now, heel, I'm pretty sure this is what it'd look like (kinda):

Sad thing is, even though I whipped it up in only like five-ten minutes, I get the feeling Dobsy's may be even worse.
When the idea of Dobson doing a landscape came up I was thinking more along the lines of this.

When I was younger, I had a Muppet storybook. There was one story about Fozzie deciding he wants to please everyone and tell them all exactly what they want to hear, whether it's true or not. He, of course, gives stupid advice and his compliments don't sound genuine. When he overhears the others giving Rowlf helpful critiques on a song he's writing, Fozzie is aghast at them seemingly being bad friends. Rowlf assures Fozzie that he likes criticism and his friends being honest, because then he can improve on his work.

I still think about that story sometimes and it's stuff like that that makes me feel kind of sad for Andrew. Has he said some stupid, insensitive things? Yes. Is his artwork really terrible? Ehh...I've seen worse, but there's lots of room for improvement. Is his writing bad? Pretty bad, yes.

It just makes me a little depressed to see a simple kids' story with a good moral and then see Andrew, who would probably disregard it, contort the meaning, and then maybe complain that kids are being taught the wrong lesson or some BS. It almost makes me want to see him read it just for the reaction.

Fozzie and the Dobbear might both be unfunny, hat-wearing bears, but at least Fozzie is likable and was actually capable of learning something.

Sorry for offtopic, but is it known whether Ross could paint anything other than landscapes? Such as, say, houses, cities, naked girls, locomotives, abstract patterns, dogs or still-lifes?
He admitted that he can't draw people and his friend suggested that he stick to landscapes because that's what Ross enjoyed best.

Dobby doesn't want criticism, he wants asspats. He doesn't even seem to genuinely enjoy drawing.

Don't mean to double post, but Dobby is trying to sell his Quack on Titan merchandise.

The House of Mouse generally doesn't like people profiting on their work.

Didn't we just have a discussion on how Dobby hates anime, yet here he is, trying to make a buck off of it?

That doesn't sound hypocritical at all, Dobby.

Which is going to make their confrontation all the more entertaining.
Speaking of fan art, anyone notice that's all Dobson has been drawing lately? I know people here say his non-fan art is even worse, but I for one think he'd be better off developing his own original creations. Unfortunately, the conventional wisdom around DA goes that fan art draws in more fans...:(

The problem with Dobson's anime sperging is the same thing you see in movie sperging, or game sperging, etc etc where they idolize the past. People only ever remember the few rare gems from previous generations, and the mountains of crap that came out are forgotten. Plus add in the fact that in many cases what was "good" wasn't declared as such till years after it came out to a lukewarm reception (Citizen Kane and The Wizard of Oz were both a box office bombs for instance). Then they compare that idealized past with today, where the same gem to crap ratio as always exists, and declare that everything has degenerated, where in reality for every Final Fantasy 7 that came out, there were a dozen "Die Hard: The Game"s.

I agree. The problem with nostalgia is that there is good & bad stuff in every generation. The bad stuff (i.e. movies & video games) is forgotten with good reason, while the good stuff is remembered. This of course leads to "blah blah, things were better in the old days".

I took a crack at it. The skeletal structure was really hard to read, but I didn't want to bother putting more effort into analyzing the pose than Dobson put into actually drawing that shit.

The sad thing is that your anatomy is clearly better but the bad news is you didn't capture the actual anatomy flaws; you drew his left shoulder as his arm. You accidentally made his art look better than it is. If you doubt me, here's a back to back comparison.

That's supposed to be a shoulder?
Holy shit, you're right! The line for the sleeve ends right at what I thought was an elbow. :story:
My bad, for a moment I assumed he had attempted to foreshorten a bent arm and it just looked terrible because of his line art, but looking at it now. I see the light. The shitty, terribly drawn light.

…Install automatically is LITERALLY the default option, for it to happen any other way you have to actually select "Inform me about updates and let me install them" EVERY time you update Flash. I should know I do it every time.

Feels like one of things situations where people don't read instructions and then complain when they don't understand something cough DSP.
