Redrawing/remaking is valid, it can show how far an artist has come or what they've learned that can make them perform the original idea better now.

Starting something off like a rehash but giving it a twist punchline or something can be valid, the change itself can be funny, especially on a running gag. Even then everything's often drawn again.

Bringing back on old piece you like so new people can look at it again can be valid, some people have old stuff they still find value in. While awkward and sloppy and I tend to hate my own stuff, the first piece I ever put on DA I still regard just a little fondly.

Doing a shitty GIMP edit and expecting people to pay you for it is not.

Gotta admit it. Dobson’s personal hell of his own creation is pretty amazing in its sheer simplicity and continuance. He could easily revamp his patron and push himself harder to achieve his goals, or alternatively, just let go, pursue other career, and turn art to a hobby instead of a demanding, consuming and fulfilling struggle that it is at the moment. Instead he chooses to do neither, staying in the no-mans-land where he keeps hating his trade more and more without progressing in it. Leading to mounting frustration and angry twitter tirades that drive away potential patrons which feeds yet another social media rant.

Heck, at this point he might just openly embrace his teen balloon lesbian fantasies, as even creepy fetish porn would most likely sell as well as the current faux-progressive tumblr tier trash he desperately spews out in hopes of validation.
