Wow, Dobson couldn't have proved my point better if he'd tried.

On the one hand, he thinks that the lesbian who doesn't like his creeping on lesbian characters is just one person with an opinion that he doesn't need to care about.

But then when he wants to hold forth to a captive audience about some made up characters, he has to begin by making sure everybody knows he's a feminist, and that his opinions must be taken, not just as his opinions, but as the opinions of a feminist, and given credit on that basis.

I kind of get the feeling that Dobson is starting to think that he's not just a feminist, but the feminist. Not quite that he's delusional enough to think that he's the only feminist in the world, but that whatever half-arsed opinion he forms after watching a movie is the definitive feminist take on it.

Dobson debates with someone on Facebook about how talking in a movie theater is unnecessary and rude. The person tries to assure him that he tries his best to not disturb anyone outside of his group that he's exchanging his thoughts with.

And again, I wish I could smack that fat sack of shit right in the face, but I get the ever growing feeling that he's not worth the effort of even being spat at.
Holy shit.

I do talk to my friends, too, when I'm in the cinema, but I do it silently, so noone else hears it. But apparently, the very idea of doing that is so offensive to Dobson, noone is allowed to do it, even if NOONE ELSE IS NOTICING IT. Cause, apparenlty, even the faintest of whispers is transformed into bellowing screams in the cinema. What a cunt.

Over a decade ago, I went to "The Ring 2" with a few friends and in that movie, there's a scene of a scraggy female with really pale skin, black, ragged hair and she talks in a somewhat high-pitched voice and only talks weird, insane stuff. Now, this movie is supposed to be horror, but the moment someone yelled "Goddamn, it's Micheal Jackson!" it had the entire cinema roaring with laughter for a good minute. The movie was rather bad, so I guess there was no harm done...
I, too, enjoy talking smack about a movie every once in a while and I enjoy exchanging jokes with friends... but we always ensure noone else hears the comments.

Yeah I read that dude's posts in Grunkle Stan's voice. Dude does have a naturally loud voice.

Also Dobson probably doesn't have many friends to take to the movies, so I expect it isn't a place to socialise for him.

Yeah, gotta agree it's good to have reactions to movies. I like going to horror movies with my sister. She screams at the jump scares, everybody else in the theatre laughs, good times. Makes the film well more memorable imo.

He must be a racist. He hates black people. He should go to a theater in a black neighborhood some time where talking back to the screen is actually part of the experience.

Like most social things, it's a matter of context. If you are the only people yelling in a theater, it's rude and inappropriate. If you're the only people who aren't, quit your bitching.

(And if a bit of whispering pisses you off, get over yourself.)

Especially bad movies are a riot when you (and the rest of the audience) take MST3K-style potshots at stupid shit...

This is going to be one of the few times I agree with Dobby, I hate when people talk during the movie. Like outside of something like Snakes on a Plane. I have friends that try to talk and I'm just "no, tell me later."
I'm weird about noise in general, though.

I hate hate hate hate when Dobs tries to be King Feminist, Giver of Feminist Truth to Ladies Everywhere. It is his least attractive look.

Also, there are virtually no black people where Dobs is living now, so at least his complaining about talking moviegoers isn't likely to be racist. Just prissy as hell.

You do get the impression that his intended audience is people who have had zero exposure to feminism, and what's more, he's happy for them to stay that way - why read Germaine Greer or Andrea Dworkin when you've got Andrew Dobson there to lay out the facts of feminism for you?

It's the small things in life, I guess. At least here, he can pretend to be competent and knowledgeable whereas in his chosen line of work random people on this forum give him a run for his money... literally. :heart-empty:

Speaking of which: Patreon down to 81 Dollars, I think the last official number we had in this thread was 82?.

Feminism is a neckbeard jerking it to shitty R34 of autistic lesbian ships of random characters.

Who knew?

The only people who should be allowed to talk during a movie is the MST3K crew. I went to see the Lego Movie and and no one would shut the fuck up

I'm unfortunately (or fortunately) one of those assholes that do backtalk movies. My comments often vary in how much a movie draws me in/my impression of it. So you'd either be cool with it or want to crack my skull open and pour the gray matter on the floor.

Dobbybear is looking to do a podcast with some guy named the grey tick. He gives a shout out to 4chan, ED, GG, and "various right wing" groups for hating him, but leaves out the kiwis. Dobby, Dobby, how could you leave out one of your biggest fan groups?

This is basically every single male feminist who goes white knight. Which is a lot of them. I've met a lot of relatively normal female feminists, but there's just something about the male ones...

Don't suppose you'd have a screencap of that? I can't find his twitter, but I do sort of know who TheGreyTick is, he's the writer on The Escapist's Critical Miss series, has got a podcast with himself, the artist of CM and Miracle Of Sound, or that guy who does videogame songs.
I would be very surprised if Grey even considers having Preston on. Hell, I'd be surprised if he even notices he was asked

Now I want to visit a theater in a black neighborhood. That sounds awesome!
