Andrew, the important distinction to make is that it's actually the demand for "good artists" that's never been higher, and that people aren't willing to pay "shitty artists" a living wage.

To examine whether Dobson's claims of people unwilling to support artists is true or not, let's compare Dobson's Patreon with that of another Deviantartist.

I think Dobs legit has depression, but he's a complete fuckstick for not getting the help that is almost surely available to him. I have a friend who is a psychiatrist in low-income rural communities, and people with no money and no resources will do whatever they can to try and get help for themselves and their families.
