As for the bus banning thing, I think it would have to involve both literal shit of some kind and a fight. Draw your own conclusions. I do wonder what his nickname was, though. Dobby just adds more evidence to my theory that there's a certain upbringing that creates people like him.

My god this is horrifying. Probably some of the worst Dobsy's done yet. And it's pretty fucking hard to screw up the art style of Steven Universe. Yet somehow he fucking did it.

I believe it was on SA where someone had a theory that his parents forbid him to use the bus. My guess is he got bullied.

I have access if anyone is looking for something in particular. There's a lot of boring stuff including like 5 pages where everyone makes fanart of Benedict Cumberbatch, but I'll pull out some of the more interesting stuff like the comic edits.

Yeah, I don't think he was banned by the school, I read it as his parents forbid it. They sound overprotective. He couldn't get a drivers license, a job or a girlfriend until after high school. It sounds like his parents coddled him pretty hard.
 
I like how Dobbs is willing to completely suspend any logical thought when it comes to Wu sempai.

Brianna said she has started watching Game of Thrones so Dobby started tweeting stuff about the series (News about it being leaked, a fan made intro done in Lego, etc) while at the same time as saying that he will stop watching Daredevil if a pet cat gets killed because he hates when animals and civilians die in shows.

I really hope he gets round to watching Game of Thrones. :ween:

My response to each of those:
  • Because Dobson is the only nonathletic kid to ever hate PE. Also I doubt people remember him for being unable to score a point or whatever. There is only one person I remember in particular from one of my PE classes, and that was the weird/unintentionally creepy special ed girl who openly watched me dress/undress in the locker rooms.
  • So nobody cared about the school paper. I don't think that's uncommon. Nobody at my school even cared enough to make a school paper. Nobody would've read it anyways. :lol:
  • Nobody at my school ever used the lockers outside of PE. We learned lockers are horribly inconvenient the first week in middle school. I fail to see why this is a big deal.
  • Disregarding if it was the school district or his parents who banned him from the bus (and why) for a moment, first of all chances are he's exaggerating. I have a really hard time believing he was literally the only kid who didn't ride a bus. Unless he went to an extremely rural high school (which I doubt) there were probably at least a handful of kids who lived too close to the school to be able to ride the bus (assuming other districts have policies like mine did, of course). But even if he really was the only one, I don't think "the kid who didn't ride the bus" is the reason why his classmates remember Dobson (if they do at all).
  • A lot of kids are picked on. You almost certainly weren't the only one in your graduating class to be picked on. You're not special, Dobson. Hell, I would expect you to know the difference between weening and proper constructive criticism because of it.

  • If you only had one nickname, that's pretty good. I'm pretty sure most kids are called more then one name.
  • I take this to mean that Dobson alienated himself from the other bullied kids. Way to fucking go.

  • I confess that while I don't particularly care about sports, I can respect that it takes both hard work and talent to be good at them. Now, while somebody could probably argue that the kids in band, orchestra, drama and/or choir aren't properly recognized outside of friends/family, I strongly doubt that Dobson was part of any of those. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if he had/has the same amount of contempt for them as he did/does the sports teams.
  • I'd like to know where Dobson grew up in order to have only one black kid in the entire school or grade. Regardless, it's still not an excuse for him to dwell on it.

Honestly I'm surprised Dobson would have fond memories from his college days seeing as how that's when he was no longer blindly praised for his art and had to sit through constructive criticism for the first time.
 
I remember seeing a comic that was something along the lines of "The Six People You Meet Freshman Year of Art School." I kind of get the idea that Dobson was "Best Artist at Bumblefuck Nowhere High that has to adapt to other people telling them they are wrong" for some reason.

You know, I like that you brought attention to this point, because I feel that it kind of correlates with the theories regarding his not actually being banned from the bus...rather, I think that the lack of minorities and the whitebread-ness of his school and (potentially) his district really drive home that perhaps his parents didn't let him ride it and just lied to him about it, or some other reason along those lines (i.e. that he didn't actually go ham enough to warrant a forever ban, per se, and instead was just bullied mercilessly for being Andrew Dobson).

Now I'm not just gonna throw that point out without some sort of reasoning behind it, and here it is: communities do still exist where it's almost all white people and hardly any minorities. How do I know this? Why, because I went to one. Small towns in Alaska are generally more likely to have at least Alaska Natives, not less, but the town I went to was special in that regard: there was one Native family and one black kid in the whole school, and he was my little brother. We were a super-rural community (took the bus an hour and 15 minutes to actually reach the school after picking up all the kids) and as such I can't even remember any kids getting kicked off the bus for any length of time, even for the crazier things that some kids pulled. What I do remember, though, are a couple kids who didn't ride because their parents didn't want them to because we were horrible children and either bullied them or corrupted them (lol there was a porno mag that some idiot brought on the bus because again, he's a moron) and since where there's smoke there's fire a lot of the time, I'm inclined to believe that his parents decided to shelter the shit out of him because he was a little dweeb who couldn't handle it, or maybe he had a titanic freakout, I dunno.

tl;dr: It is unlikely that a rural school district would issue a blanket forever ban on riding the school bus unless he tried to kill a kid or something (and it'd have to be a real attempt because lol kids).
 
The city where Dobs went to high school had a population of 85,000 in 1990, of whom the census reported 91% as "white, non-Hispanic." In 2000, the city's population had grown to 88,000, and 84% of the residents were reported as "white, non-Hispanic."

One of the reasons Dobbers's hometown has a relatively low black population is that an adjoining town (of 27,000) has been considered a hotspot for affluent black Massachusetts families since the 1970s; its "black, non-Hispanic" demographic is over 20%. The schools in that town are also considered better than the ones in Dobbers's hometown.

There are two high schools in Dob's city. One has the Presidents as a mascot, one has the Red Raiders. Yep, Red Raiders are depicted by a stupid caricature of a Native dude (apparently, it's actually depicting an Armenian dude who was a benefactor of the school dressed as a Native guy, I don't even know what the fuck). Presidents are depicted by a top hat. I don't know which of the high schools Dob attended.

And this is why you'll never improve. More talented people offer you advice and you ignore it because you're so "cocksure" your way is the right way.
