Has Tom actually acknowledged that Tumblr is shit?

Look. Dobby. Dobby, Dobby, Dobby. It's totally okay if you want to see two girls boink, okay? I don't care. Nobody fucking cares that much, I assure you.

But your constant crying out about how your shipping two lesbian characters is super progressive? Nobody buys it. It comes off like you are frantically trying to justify your fetish with some kind of moral high ground, and the more breathless essays you write on how super progressive it is, the more desperate you come across, and the more teenage lesbians you creep out.

This is coming from somebody with a ton of gay ships. I see right through you because I'm surrounded by girls and women saying the same shit as you. Yes, a lot of those ships would make great couples. It'd be wonderful to see them made canon, even. Score one for LGBT representation, whatever. But a lot of that fervor is just because it'd be hot to see those characters fuck. The ones who screech loudest about how if you don't ship Johnlock or Marceline/Bubblegum you're a homophobe? They're the ones with hundreds of pieces of fan fic smut and rule 34 saved onto their hard drives. I guarantee it.

You're in the realm of perverts, Dobby. Don't act like you're somehow above the muck when you're up to your chin in it.

I'd have a lot more respect for you if you were out and proud about being a filthy cartoon sex weirdo. Your old inflation fetish stuff isn't as amusing as how desperately you try and pretend it didn't exist, or how you try and act like it's the old you. But you try so hard to make yourself look presentable, to look noble, and all you do is come across like you're trying to hide an elephant by throwing a doily and a vase over it.

I don't recall how old Korra and Asami were by the end of the series. Asami was like, what, 20 when the series started? Korra was 15-16? Three or four years passed by the end of the series, they're both legal, I'm pretty sure. Is that what's holding you back? Or are you afraid of scaring off the Outspoken Feminists by admitting two girls kissing turns your crank?

Just... stop lying, Dobby. To yourself, and everyone else.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to draw explicit gay pornography of video game characters like the goddamned hopeless loser nerd fangirl that I am. Because I like it and it's hot.

To be fair, talented artists can make amazing things using only one layer. Keyword: talented.

It's possible but it doesn't work when it's something with line art. It'd have to be painted since unlike on paper, you can easily could over a line rather than the black staying.

Of course, there's some programs that actually have a feature (Sai, what I use, calls it "selection source") can actually select based on one layer while on a different layer. I can literally do the same thing dobby does but with anti-aliasing and that makes all the difference.

Última edición:
That "minor detail" probably might have worked if, y'know, the dialogue didn't heavily imply they were married anyway. :V

That'd be like... say, with the Master Core theme following the morse code bit with "by the way that translates to 'master core'" it kinda stops being a neat hidden detail when you spell it out.

Misc. update post.

Dob seems to be mentioning about his old stuff quite often for some reason despite how he dislikes his old work

(This is from chat) Also, about this whole "one layer" thing, the funniest thing is that he has done that since long ago. Here's one he did in 2008. Not gonna nitpick much, but notice how the picture shows some Pokemon being darker in color or dull compared with the originals:

That charizard looks like he's drunk off his ass.

...What are the Pokemon at the top standing on? Each other? Also, why are the colors so muted and gross-looking? Pokemon are colorful, why would you pass up a chance to play with colors and shading like that? I don't understand you, Dobson.

Laziness, didn't give two shits about either the source material or color theory, the fact that he sucks at Photoshop.

There's so many reasons you could come up with about him and his crappy coloring. But at the end of the day, it all comes down to him just not realizing he's a bad artist (and also a bad SJW, but that's another story).

His past stuff was comparatively better as far as how much more emotionally mature it was, but that's about it. There's no emotional maturity in a 30-something year old man devoting his time to Avatar/MLP characters. Even if his old stuff was the product of teenage wangst, at least he goddamn tried to capture something other than mindless, happy drivel.

His idea of "realism" seems to be painting things black and various shades of grungy brown and using Photoshop for more than it's basic pen tool, but he's still drawing cartoon people. Beneath the texture it's still the same weird button-nosed people he's always drawn, with the strange limbs and exaggerated expressions. It's almost comical seeing the amount of love and angst put into the paint and ink work when the people look like they've jumped out of a lesser Andrew Hart book, like an art student digitally remastered a kid's lineart. I'd wager he's never drawn people from life without suffering symbol-drawing syndrome, so when he hit art school he resorted to caricatures and those anime how-to-draw books like he's always done, made them pretty-looking and nobody bothered to correct him. Out of art school, all those nice textures dissolved to basic pen/bucket tool and his inability to draw anything but cartoon characters was better realized.

...Come to think of it, past or present, I've always kind of thought Dobbles was a pretty shit artist.

And he managed to make Nidoran f look bad without even trying. Though that does also bring a point to Dobby's grasp of colour: the spots on the one he did here are just basically "blackened" from the base colour but looking at the actual art?
250px-029Nidoran.png

They're actually a different hue of blue bordering on purple. It's touches like that which make even a rather simple gen1 designs vibrant.

And lol, in the middle of his "I know the details are wrong and I don't care" he forgets it's Rapidash that has a horn. Also that Charizard never had ears ever, same with Onix's fangs (it eats dirt and stuff, it wouldn't need 'em :P) or that Krabby's pincers aren't and Kingler's are radically different sizes or that Muk isn't crap-coloured despite its' looks.

Yeah it's sperging but from someone who's a fan of Pokemon, these are incredibly obvious errors.

He also fucked up the eyes on most of them. You see, a lot of the pokemon he has pictures there have very detailed and uniquely designed eyes. Dobby however pretty much went the lazy way and gave them the same black and white circle eyes that most of his other characters have, which is a pretty minor thing for me to complain about I know but to me they just look really off.

Another minor complaint, Gengar supposed to have a purple body with red eyes, but Dobson seems to have givin him a black body with white eyes. He might be going off the first generation design which has it colored that way and I know he usually prefers the older designs of things, but I'm not sure since all the other have their later designs.

Now I've been waiting for Korra to finish so I can binge watch it all at once, which means I haven't actually seen the show yet, but I have seen promotional art and stuff. Something about the way Dobby draws Korra's eyes just... it feels so out of character. I don't know a damn thing about Korra other than what she looks like and that she's the Avatar but somehow I still feel like Dobson is getting her horribly wrong.

Look at those goddamn eyes. Look at them. She doesn't look like a badass, she looks like an uguu~ anime school girl!
