Well, I've seen some cases of extra lines that don't do that, something I'm trying to learn myself. Thing is, they need to be very thin or slight like so

Quite a few extra lines around here (lower lip and eyes especially) but still looks youthful because the lines are all still thin. Even if all the other lines are thin too, it can still work.

However, the lines Dobby uses are rather thick and not only can thick lines for details make it look cramped but also draw attention to them. Even with thicker lines, details can still work if the lines vary. Such as with this

Notice how most of the form's lines get quite prominent but little things like the knuckles and chest details are slight and subtle?

Basically, Dobby's arch nemesis (anime) actually had some good things to teach, if he payed attention to anyone else that is.

EDIT:Ironically, Dobby's a good teacher. Not by following him but by analyzing his errors and seeing the same things done right and noting why they work and his things don't.
 
Dobson can't into lineart. Also, Korra's body look...short. Her torso is too stumpy.

Korra has an athletic build. That drawing just made her look like she has a really short torso.

Asami's mouth also looks she has a massive underbite and is just plain ugly. Also that background lol. Looks like it was made in paint.

I've been saying this shit for fucking ages, the man who made a comic featuring topless busty lesbians beating up a man with a shit-eating grin on his face isn't in this because he gives a shit about what he's preaching.

FFS, he used the old "LOL. HOMOPHOBIC JOCKS ACT TOTALLY GAY." fallacy in one of his comics.

Sure, there's an element of "People change" to it. Absolutely. I held some opinions in the past I'm quite embarrassed about now.

Dobbs, however, is keeping the train rolling with this shit.

So... is the cat-thing - and totally not a fucking ripoff - just hovering there or is it standing on a box or something? Or is the guy like Cotton Hill and had his feet stitched to his knees after the war? Also, how is the cat-thing holding the box with what appears to be its fingertips? Telekinesis? Spider-man-esque powers? And the guy's hands... is he planning on karate-chopping the floating box with his right hand, because he's not really holding that hand out defensively. Also curious about his pants. Dobson drew the seat pocket so it's wrapping around the side of his leg, but at the same time, never bothered about making front pockets. Interesting design choice, but not quite as interesting how he decided to use a feathered brush for some shaded areas, but then used a hard-edged brush for no apparent reason elsewhere.

Cat thing also seems to be staring at the end of its nose. Shouldn't he be making eye contact with the guy instead?

Part of what makes art great (a really big part, if we're being honest) is how and why it conveys emotions to the viewer. The very best artists can evoke many different states of being from a single image, and indeed all great artists strive to do this as effectively and skillfully as possible, I believe, because they understand something very critical and special that Dobson doesn't.

That something is, of course, the knowledge that art is meant to be viewed! Art is static without the viewer, right? There's a whole depth and breadth of feeling that is denied to the creator if there is no viewer, and Dobson doesn't fucking care to elicit these responses from people. I think that's how one truly grows as an artist, and that's why Dobby never will: he's almost autistic in his inability to perceive why people feel the way they do about his work, and thus he is denied the ability to delve more deeply into his own psyche. A writer can't write about stuff he doesn't know, and an artist can't draw things he doesn't feel. When both of them do, the flaws may be subtle or glaring but the overall impression someone gets is of lifelessness.

Dang I kinda sperged there :) sorry guys, I just feel strongly about this because at one time Dobson had talent, but his refusal to draw for anyone but himself denies his art the dimensions it deserves, and does a disservice to the viewer and the medium.

Edit: I might be wrong about the art theory here, it's not something I know a lot about, but I have read about art, mostly because I've always wished I could draw.

Dude, the shit I'm doing with The Real Sonichu is copy paper, a mechanical pencil, a white eraser, and a 48-count magic marker set. For some of the higher-end stuff, consider getting some Micron pens and Prismacolor markers (the latter will cost you money, however).

Also, you'd be surprised how much software for image work you can get for dirt cheap if not (legally) free. Photoshop and Painter are the gold bar, but you can still do some stellar work with GIMP, or Sketchbook Pro.

Yeah, yeah. Off-topic I know. Dobson is a silly man who smells his own farts. There, I'm back on topic.
 
I have huge hands too, I kinda end up death-gripping the tablet pen which hurts my fingers easily. Can't seem to make myself stop doing it either. Kept drawing because A) I'm an idiot and B) Some thing just matter that much, y'know? But mostly because I'm an idiot.

And no, I'm no better with actual pencils but hey, I'm being paper-efficient this way!

EDIT: Basically, if you've got the passion, you'll get through even if it physically hurts. Unlike Dobby who shuts down the minute anyone questions his uninformed gibberish.
There. Now it's not off-topic... as badly...
