Dobson explains the sexual orientation of his AzP characters:
"
With the ending to Korra requiring the creators step up to their blogs to confirm Asami and Korra's relationship, I felt that it might be a good idea to explicitly show my character's sexual orientations to avoid any misunderstandings too.
Atea (far right) is very openly gay. One of my regrets is that I haven't written her as a more complex character and instead have relied heavily on gay stereotypes. A practice I'm hoping to stop going forward.
Talus (the furry beaver looking dude) is Asexual. He has literally no sexual interests what-so-ever.
Alex Ze Pirate (with the awesome guns) is bisexual. I've actually had this in mind for a LONG time now. One of the earliest ideas was to have a romantic love triangle for her. Who does she choose? Sam the boy or Atea the girl? It was a dynamic I hadn't seen much of. Sadly my earlier writing didn't really play that up much and now I hate the idea of love triangles. So the chances of me going back to that plot line are slim at best. But I still like the idea that Alex is bi, especially since Bi representation is so often overlooked.
Sam (the shirtless dude) is straight. I couldn't tell if the posts about a heterosexual flag were genuine, but I decided to go with it anyway. In case you don't know, the heterosexual flag is literally just black and white stripes (sometimes depicted with shades of grey). Boring and ugly, but I think I made it work.
So there you have it! Have a merry Christmas everyone!"
Those are some of the ugliest characters I've ever seen goddamn. There's nothing appealing about any of them, aesthetic-wise or character-wise. And Sam's face and pecs are just...sad. And no Dobson, their sexualities doesn't make them interesting. At all.
It's the way he draws...Well, everything. But with the faces in particular, it's like a mixture of basic anime pentagon facial structure with western eye, nose and mouth detail. That's not to say artists can't blend manga style with western comic style to create an appealing art form, but here it's awkward to look at. They all have those, button noses. And the eyes, that are meant to look different on each character, but not really because they follow similar eye patterns. Same with their mouths. They all have the same looking face, and I think part of that is because of their eyes and nose.
Personally, I find a lot of the uniqueness and individuality of a character is shown with their face. That's why when I see character concepts where character faces all have like-minded designs and motifs it bores me, because there isn't enough going on to make them really stand out.

Speaking of, does anyone know when he'll continue his series?
(I didn't know sneakers and sweaters existed in times of the pirates)
Does anyone else think he came up with what sexual orientations they are on the fly? Because aside from his ass, I couldn't even imagine where he pulled all this from.
And I doubt he'll continue the series again. 'Cause if his art's going to be either shitty stick men or beasts that came from Chris Hart's nightmares, it'll be pretty much dead upon arrival.
I believe in the past we've talked about why he jumped on the SJW bandwagon (to feel like he has the moral high ground, even when he's clearly wrong about many things), but I wonder...does he know how stupid he's sounding?
For example, that Korra supercut thing didn't work out at all. After all the time he spent building it up, you'd think it would be a humbling experience for him to admit he was wrong, but we all know he's either going to either skim over it or write a long-winded journal making it seem like he was right all along for a convoluted (and non-existent) reason.
Obviously, he's not the kind of person who would ever truly admit to being wrong about something, but does he have any self-awareness? Is he so far in denial that he's deluded himself into believing the stuff he's saying?
Dobson wants to think he's a special person, who's a part of a progressive movement because he thinks the Korra shipping is helpful to the LBGT community.
He doesn't realize that being infatuated with some sort of media buzz is a fairly common thing among people the world over, and that the korra buzz feed isn't much different than people buzzing about a show like Honey Boo Boo.
Also, I don't have a DA account, so is it possible to disable all comments on someone's DA? Because I think Dobson is gonna do that pretty soon.
Oh my god he cares more about implied lesbians in a cartoon than an actual lesbian teen. I like how he keeps saying that what Korta did is gonna change society and that this girl is an idiot for disagreeing with his obsession. And how the people in the comments keep bring up actual points about things in the real world but he keeps making it about the show, just shows how clueless he is about actual problems in society.
Not exactly a factor. She goes off on anyone who even SEEMS like they think they know better (and being the dolt she is, they often do know better) regardless of whether or not they agree and may be trying to help you earn more money.
Aaaaaand Dobby takes the gold for some serious mental gymnastics schooling a teenage lesbian on how he's more progressive than her because he creeps on animated teenage bisexuals!
