Wait...

Dobson uses references?
So it seems. If that's is indeed the case, that doesn't explain why he's still a shitastic artist. I'm just tempted to agree with Nova on this one. Though the Skyrim and Samus stuff don't even look like they were drawn by a grown man, let alone have references used.

Eh, to me I mostly would rag on his art in terms of laziness; you can see how much less effort he puts into stuff by year. It's hard as hell for most laymen (which I am a member of I will admit right now) to really notice a lot of the stuff at first glance3. Honestly, the biggest fuck-up that I know he regularly does is he cannot a skull since his men have women jawbones. I only know that because one of my friends spent like two years studying the human form for his animation projects; I wouldn't have known that otherwise.

Dobson is mostly hilarious in his declining efforts, his tardrages (at times), the fact he has pretended to be a girl, and his desperation to remain in the spotlight..

I'm late to the party but is there any specific reason Pedobear hates anime/manga styled art?

I believe he hates it because he used to draw in that style, including in his inflation adventures, and he is ashamed of the fact he copied an art style as opposed to building his own, and thinks that artists should build their own styles. I'm not 100% on that, but I think he explained it like that somewhere.

New Twitter profile!

And it's based on his most recent new art!

The perspective of the legs is terribly off. Also, that bear looks sad/angry even when it's smiling.

Eh it's a noble ambition but he fucks it up by being so terrible and generic stylistically.

I think it was something like that and that he believed it kept him from getting a job at Disney or something. I could be misremembering. However, he's full of shit as artists can ALWAYS build their own styles at any point in their lives. He might know that if he would get off dA and Twitter and I dunno, DRAW.

Odd, I find the art of people who copy other art styles better-looking than Nooky Bear's post-animu work.

Hasn't most Disney shows/movies since the 1980s have a slight anime-ish feel to the character designs anyways? I'm pretty sure the company wouldn't give two shits about Dobon either way, but I don't think ditching the Anime style completely is a requirement to be a Disney animator.

And no, I'm not talking about the times Disney actually sent some of their stuff (like DuckTales and Gargoyles) to Japan, I'm referring to the aesthetics of the characters. I've been noticing that certain traits like the shapes of the eyes and irises popping up more and more in their CG films.

BTW, that picture of Korra-Dobson looks fucked up. Both in concept and execution.

I hate that front foot. It looks like he just copy-and-pasted both feet without nary a care. That would be so incredibly painful to stand like that. Maybe that's why his face is like a wrinkly sultana.

A random thought: how quickly do you think Nooky Bear's SJD cred and his friendship with Wu would be destroyed if they discovered he was once an inflation fetish artist?
Wu isn't exactly a poster child of social justice with his "Bratz in Space" game either. SJW cred does not depend on what you do; it depends on how loudly and obnoxiously you shout.

Or without making it creepy enough to warrant as much of a "kill it with fire" response as The Thing?
Oh, it way out does The Thing in the regard.
If I was in a branching hallway with The Thing coming down one way, Sumo Bear coming down the other, and only enough flamethrower fuel to take out one of them, I'd think I'd take my chances fist fighting The Thing. At least it will just assimilate me into the collective, it won't do.....things to me with a bicycle pump.
