I created this template from one of the SYAC cartoons. I wanted to fill it out, but I'm sure some have better ideas than me.

I enjoyed his reel, and I think his current depression is the result of him attempting to build a decent online rep and failing. Rather than posting his art and catering to an audience, he jumped on the SJW train and attracted only trolls; he ought to just network with other artists, people he could respect and dialog with constructively. I have a circle of writers I meet with every month, all very talented people I know and trust implicitly, and we all share our current projects and workshop them together. Our goal is to publish, direct, etc, and eventually, with enough support, make names for ourselves, however miniscule. We're all wasting our time being exposed to criticism and creative support though; we should be more like Dobby and sperg on Deviant art. That's how you make it as a creative person in this age.
 
As for fan art being in a portfolio, It's more of an unspoken no no. Usually your original work is shown first. Sometimes drawing in another artists style might be necessary since most animation is trying to adapt to another style. But then again, that would be the absolute last thing you would want to add.

Stop motion is hard...or at least very good stop motion. After doing studies in an actual working studio, it's insane to see the lack of time people get to produce awesome stuff. I build stuff for stop mo stuff so being on the other side made me want to spaz lmao. One thing I will give him credit is animating with clay. I would be on the train to nopesville all day long.

Honestly it doesn't even phase me simply because the decline in the quality of his work is all his fault. The guy could've been a pretty successful artist, but he's too lazy to actually put forth any actual effort into his work and he's too egotistical to ever listen to the advice and criticism people go out of their way to show him because they actually care for him and they want to see him grow as an artist. But no, now he's too busy whining about pointless controversies that nobody actually gives a shit about, and the only time he'll even attempt to poop out a comic is when he's trying to make a point about his ranting. He sees no point in trying to work on his art because it hasn't brought him the attention he wanted so now he's trying to become famous as an activist for SJW feminism.

And the problem is that while he's going to be famous for his SJW-ing. It's going to be for all the wrong reasons.
