Dob is now less active considering he's not gonna post any more stuff about GG, but here's an interesting latest tweet:

What a weenie.

I hope his reply box is sufficiently filled with people calling Dobby a dingus.

Constructive criticism isn't bullying, Dobson. Whatever your college professors told you, it was because they saw potential in your art and wanted to see you improve. You failed them and yourself because you decided your art is already perfect and shut yourself to everything that isn't mindless praise.

I'm pretty sure he got that quote from Fairly Odd Parents.

On a serious note, how can someone be so negative? Reading his posts are even more annoying than the "I'M SO LONELY AND MAH SOUL HURTS" posts Chris made on Facebook. Like say something happy about your life for once, rather than whine about your "career" and #Gamergate.

No wonder Dobby is depressed.

Well Dobbsy thinks there's nothing in his life that will make him happy. Be it art, the internet, nothing. I mean sure, we've all been through this stage of depression before (though maybe without the whole "Bitching on twitter" thing). But he just seems to be in a never-ending state of this self-loathing and hatred to himself and everyone/thing around him.

Well, that's my view on it at least.

Indeed. Even the most chipper among us have been down in the dumps from time to time, and in these trying times, things do seem hopeless. Still, with how long and constant Dobby's rut is, I'm inclined to think he may be on the cusp of clinical depression.

Or suicide. Not to A-log or anything, but that seems to be the path he'd be taking if this continues.

god dammit, that tumblr update's incongruity... even if the two pieces are from two different times, sometimes dobson can draw a decent face, and sometimes they just don't have chins and they have these big ugly eyes and it just drives me up the wall

Speaking from an animators standpoint, his demo reel, while impressive, was all over the goddamn place. This demo reel is basically something a first year student would make as a final demo reel for the year. If this is the reel he's been using to try to get jobs, it's no wonder no one has picked him up. The purpose of a reel is to show your strongest work and without saying it, it should show what you want to do. The standard now is to show all of your animation work on a reel and have your art made into a 12-24 page book. Tom needs to re-organize his stuff. Just sayin.....

That's what got me too. If he wasn't depressed or on his "Feminism Quest". He easily could have been employed by Disney at this point.
Only if he took steps to continuously improve himself. Instead of listening when people say (or said, rather, since comments are blocked now) "Hey, this isn't bad, but the hands are really jacked up. If the hands looked right this would look better. Try doing this, or read this book and practice hands" he'd rather bawwwwww about how mean people are for not mindlessly praising his work. He sabotaged himself from becoming a professional animator.

And that's the worst thing one can do to him/herself when trying to achieve a dream. Especially if that person wants to be an artist.

Hell, I sometimes bring myself down on my own skills, but I still keep trying, even if I say to myself "This could be a lot better" or "I suck at drawing".

I get that from time to time. I also have a circle of friends who give me encouragement and constructive criticism so that I may improve (I still have an issue with samefacing my characters, but I like to think I've come rather far).

That and I don't have the personality of an X-rated Oscar the Grouch.
