The temples of his glasses go all the way up to the ears on the top of his head. So he's always looking down his nose at you no matter the angle or expression.

See how on the parody comic the temples just go out to the side like regular glasses even though there are technically no ears there? Makes a shocking amount of difference (not so much for the intentionally smug expression in panel 1 of the parody comic, but noticeable when comparing both comic's panel 2).
