I'm under the impression that Dobson and his whole existence is a performance act. No person can be as thick as him on purpose, almost everything he does is calculated to piss people off with just how stupid and oblivious he acts. The way he ripped off that pirate from that mario game but only changed her slightly, the way he portrays himself as a bear or a lesbian, or likes having "unpopular opinions." stuff like that is just meant to get on your nerves. I feel like he feeds on all this attention like the drama whore he is. Its his only talent.

Complaining about "how devastating it can be" to have your publicly posted work criticized by members of the public? Seriously?

I wonder how he got through art school at all if he is that thin-skinned.
Well, Dobson is a firm believer in never taking advice from people less talented than you. On some level, he recognized the teachers as having superior ability (hence why they teach) and listened to them. Then when he entered the real world with a diploma, meaning he may view himself as equal to his former teachers, he thought himself better then others and shut out his critics.

I'm afraid I have to disagree. After all, this shit's been going on for years. Dobson's quite possibly the poster child for pretentious web comic artists outside of Tim Buckley.

I'm not saying he's fake, I'm just saying he's a drama queen and a drama whore who laps up the attention like a fat kitty. Its half the reason I can't bring myself to follow him because I know he just wants controversial reactions to his work and words. Its what gives him power. Strip Dobson of his attention whoring antics and you're left with a mediocre artist with absolutely nothing to his name.

Tim Buckley on the other hand, I agree is just a terrible guy who doesn't even have to try to get the negative attention he deserves. Like Dobson always hides on the safe side of controversy with just obnoxiously voiced opinions, Buckley straight up showed his wang to an underage girl, not even for controversy's sake.

What's the deal with anime avatars on twitter?

They should grow up and use blue bear avatars instead.

FIFT. Because even if he wasn't an attention whore, he'd still be a a guy with a lot of "female issues", so to speak.

Also:
Anyone mind filling me in on this? Because I never heard of this so-called "complaining". Nor do I have a twitter.

Could be totally off here but from what I understand he might be referring to this:
There is a sub-group of Twitter-SJWs who use anime avatars referred to as "anime marxists." They are collectively mocked by the more mainstream Twitter-SJWs. The anime marxists are more open about certain radical beliefs and are under the delusion they will bring about the literal kind of revolution Marx talked about and that afterwards anime will be the only acceptable art. They're also more likely to believe they're horse-dragon-kin or whatever. I believe it is the latter belief specifically that results in a lot of the animosity between them and the more mainstream Twitter SJWs. Dobson's fairly active on Twitter so he might have heard those grumblings.

Or he could just be referring to people who believe that liking anime = being a weeaboo.

Honestly, knowing Dobson and his hate for Anime, it's likely the latter.

This guy tries to pass himself off as a "feminist" and a savior of persecuted women.

Yet he seems to have a very sexualized, superficial, immature perception of women, the very attitude he claims to be fighting against.

Pretty much all the women in his comics ( except for the lesbian couple) are stereotypically beautiful, large chested beauties who are in distress of some kind from the "sexist nerd culture". It seems he doesn't really know real women that well, and may not yet have had a fulfilling relationship with one.

Well, there's this study that found that most people dismiss what is being said by people with anime avatars on social media sites.

...Rider isn't anime.
It's a parody article, FYI.

Why does he care so much about what avatars people use? If they want to use anime avatars, let them use anime avatars!
To be fair, he's asking why people are making a deal out of them.
