I can't believe Dobson is almost to 1000 pages. He might not put a ton of effort into his art but it isn't really all that bad. I don't think he's even really a lolcow. If we crucified people for their old, shitty fetish art half the forum would have a thread. Seems like just another SJW to me, and not even a major player in that scene like Anita or Zoe.

Dobson is fun to point and laugh at (and not just for the inflation stuff), but seeing it snowball into a thousand page thread is pretty odd. In aggregate it looks pathetic, although I doubt any individual person has read all of it or is really that invested in it.

I think the thing about Dobson is that he's pathetic. A pathetic person with a pathetic job with pathetic gains and pathetic aspirations, worshiping equally pathetic people, and who barely works on his pathetic comic and made some pathetic life choices. And he's aware of it. He's at a point where he could easily fall into obscurity if he simply stopped broadcasting his life and thoughts all the time.

But he can't because he's spineless and desperate for being in the right. He can't stop tweeting and posting his every thought because he wants people to tell him he's right about something, and he doesn't want to "turn his back" on the ideologies he's committed himself to in fear of some sort of reprisal, or on whatever little fanbase he still has. He knows he has done things wrong in the past, he knows he has a somewhat negative reputation for his works, and he wants to redeem himself not in the eyes of others, but in his own. He wants to believe that he can do or say something right. And at the same time, even though he clearly doesn't care that much about drawing anymore, he wants to be "there" and have a "presence" because he still has fans that follow him and he feels like he somehow owes them that.
He isn't really that much funny to watch, the way he desperately tries to crawl out of depression while at the same time never trying enough to do so is amusing, but with his own problem in content production it's hard to find actual things to laugh at, and instead people just mock and poke whatever little thing he spews out while never really laughing at it. It's more like traditional gossiping at this point.

TL;DR Dobson isn't that funny, just sad, and he's entertaining in a middle-aged-housewives-grocery-shopping-conversation kind of way, not really a lolcow anymore unless he starts drawing his shitty comic regularly again.

I think people are fixated with him because he is super frustrating. He never ever has honestly apologized for being a dick. Not for the Aurora Shooting comic, nor for "Lesbian Kick" or Zelda Williams.

He is not as crazy or gutsy as some other cows but he sure is one of the cows with the biggest egos.

instate a "Sadcow" tag so these debates on what counts as an LOLCow won't stagnate threads
I definitely agree with this. If this happened, everybody would be happy and we could keep having these threads with no problem.
But then we will get people debating on why he's a sadcow and the circle will go on :c

At this point i honestly think all dobsons shit is about attention.
If people notice him he matters....and no one other than us is paying attention.
Hes pandering to us now with his SJW stuff and even managed to call us out as prudes just to get further reaction from his critics.

Since we're taking the opportunity - suggested by some of our more...robust Kiwis - to refocus...

Personally, I don't even think of Dobson as a lolcow. He's a sadcow. Sure, he'll occasionally say or do something that makes me burst out in incredulous laughter - but on the whole, the entertainment he provides is of a much more subtle and unspectacular variety than say, CWC or Strikerwolf. Unspectacular, but by no means unaffecting. The fact is, Dobson isn't actually an atrocious artist. Yes, he has his flaws, but they're nothing that couldn't be ironed out with a few lessons in shading, inking, anatomy etc. - and some good old-fashioned application. But will he learn to correct these mistakes and grow as an artist? Of course not. Most of the time, he hardly produces anything - choosing instead to spend his days alienating what's left of his continually shrinking fanbase by a combination of whining, excuses, smug self-righteousness and inconsistent and hypocritical SJW BS. Not to mention his inability to receive criticism of any sort.

Now, obviously this can't go on forever. The amount of new content Dobson releases will continue to shrink, his public utterances will focus less and less on art and more and more on his own alleged "persecution" - until what? The day comes when he is no longer an artist, just a deranged, middle-aged man screaming into the void, crying over his failures and attempting to obscure his fetishes with a veil of "progressive" thought. And - for myself, at least - this is why Dobson is such a compelling figure. He's a man who, with just a little thought and reflection, a little time and effort, could curb his worst excesses and carve out a reasonable career for himself as a cartoonist. But he won't. God knows what the root causes of his failure are - though trying to understand is part of the man's interest. Still, it would appear that Dobson has chosen his own personal road to Calvary - and come what may, he'll stick with it till the bitter end.
Perhaps I am simply the proud owner of a particularly well-marked morbid streak - but I find this slow-motion self-destruction to be utterly gripping.

TL;DR - This is an endgame of sorts. And it's not so much the path Dobson is on as the final destination - one he could easily avoid by taking a turn any time he chooses. But he won't. And all we can do is watch.

I thought that was pretty good, it doesn't look like Furiosa but it's not bad.

It would be better if he wasn't calling it a character it looks nothing like.

Isn't drawing things and people so they can actually be recognized something they teach at art school?

It seems like Dobson does better when he's just drawing random bullshit than he does named characters. Mostly because he lacks consistency
I like his ink work. I think it's his usually flat coloring that makes his art seem dull.
It also helps that they're not being used as a mouthpiece for Dobson's own warped views.
