Is Gail a practicing Catholic? There's a ton of splinter groups up in New England, like 7th Day Adventists, Quakers, Mormons, Jehovah Witnesses, etc.

Edit: If she is Catholic, that really supports my point. Catholics can be brutal. I say this as someone raised half Catholic and half Baptist and whom attended a year of private christian school.

No idea. IIRC Catholics don't have "pastors" who interfere with peoples' daily lives - I think that's more down the line of the sort of splinter groups you mentioned. I think Jace just clung to the Catholic identity to get himself as far away as possible from the accusations of Islam. Then again, the ridiculous shit we hear from Gail like "dubstep makes you gay" and "even Muslims are still God's children" and the dreaded "I'll pray for you" makes her sound like a classically brainwashed Catholic.

Parish priests are called "pastors" in America. They can sometimes get involved in family disputes like this if a parishioner drags them into it and they think they're helping.

Nah man, his mom is Protestant. My understanding was that his Catholicism was a way to get out of "being Muslim" while at the same time being different from his mom.

If Gail was a Catholic she would loose her shit when Jace kept calling the priest a pastor. (I guess he could be a lay minister or something though, IDK Catholicism is wired and I'm from the lower mid-west, our Catholics are almost all transplants from back east or Mexicans)

He's a nut, and as an actual Veteran I'm wasting my time even considering him worthy of responding to.

There's nothing that says you can't laugh at him, though.

You sir, are the anti-Jace.

On to another topic, the fact that he thinks he can fight the terrorist groups he's threatened over Twitter using a gold airsoft pistol and his poorly made spergscythe/knife-stick is a little bit alarming. I wonder if Robert or Gail will find out? About the comments, I mean. Robert's probably somewhat tech savvy, at least compared to Gail.

Is Gail Catholic? Somehow, I thought she was something more like Baptist, if only because those sorts of groups tend to be much, much nuttier. Fundamentalist Catholics tend to be more of the attitude that everyone else - followers of other religions, gays, whatever - is going to hell and that's about it. On the other hand, Catholics also tend to be much more urban and you get some really liberal Catholics too. Baptists and their kin on the other hand tend to be the ones who get into the young earth creationism, praying the gay away, RPGs being the gateway to Satanism, the "end of days is nigh" and all of the other... weird stuff like snake handling or speaking in tongues.

And yeah, the Seventh Day Adventists, Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons and the like are really more breakaway sects from Protestantism (actually, more along the lines of the Reformists/Calvinists even). Yeah, granted all of the Protestant Churches ultimately did break from Catholicism (as that was the ONLY real organized religion in Western Europe for a long time, barring a few heretical movements like the Albigensians and Waldenses, who all got crushed pretty early on; Eastern Europe, North Africa and the Middle East was much more diverse) but then the Protestants bickered amongst themselves and split into many smaller, crazier groups, especially in the US.

Is Gail Catholic?
really interesting post, and I agree that her behaviour seems incongruous to that of a typical Catholic. I still think it's likely that Jace calls himself a Catholic because that was the first thing that came up when he did a google search for "HOW TO STOP ISLAM" or some shit. I guess we won't know for sure until someone interviews Gail professionally.

Well, you could be right. I see several possibilities. For one, Jace could be too stupid to recognize the difference between Catholicism and other Christian denominations, simply conflating Catholicism with any brand of conservative Christianity. Alternatively, Gail might actually be Catholic and simply be heavily influenced by Protestant/Evangelical imagery and political rhetoric. I'd imagine that's fairly common in some parts of the US given the disproportionate influence of the religious right. Bill O'Reilly, Bill Donohue and Newt Gingrich are all Catholics and right wing oriented. And maybe Jace is just doing it to be different from Gail. Sort of like teenage rebellion?

Of course, you may be onto something. Jace is apparently a fan of "The Religion of Peace," an anti-Muslim website (and a frequently used euphemism amongst Islamophobes). One of the most prominent Islamophobes on the internet is Robert Spencer, who amongst other things is a practicing Catholic. Indeed, one of his main objections to Islam is that he views it as competition with the Catholic Church. If Jace is a fan of Robert Spencer, it would make sense that he would call himself a Catholic. Of course, I can't see Jace actually going through all of the steps to actually convert, let alone attending church in the first place. He's go better things to do with his time... like taping a knife onto the handle of a plunger, or writing 'Semper Fidelis' on a knife in permanent marker... LOL

Connors is an Irish surname and Massachusetts is a state with a very large Irish-American population.
Many (but certainly not all) Irish-Americans are Catholic.

I consider it likely (not certain, but likely) that Jace and family, if not practicing Catholics, at least have Catholicism in their heritage a d probably a large Catholic presence n their community- and so Jace may be thinking of 'Catholic' as the default version of Christianity in his mind because of this.

On to another matter: Jace took surprisingly quickly and well to the 'Privelege Points' system that he was using with Gail and Rob. This may be because of his points-scoring 'gamer mentality', something that younger Rob may have been able to recognize.

One notable thing about Jace is how he harps on phrases. It was much less apparent in his older videos from 2012-2013, where he seems like a casual dudebro. However, as time has gone on, more of these phrases have started to surface repeatedly.
Examples include
  • Fact
  • Fact of the situation
  • Crucial fact
  • Situation
  • Crucial danger
  • Crucial danger situation
  • CHYEAH
  • TAAAAAA
  • HAA HAA
  • GAMER HUMOR
  • On this site
  • Saying "ok" repeatedly
  • Realistic
  • That's Unrealistic (says this about real life items and events)
  • Gamer of the battlefield
  • Crucial battlefield situation
  • Master of the battlefield
  • Gun kata
This is a small list off the top of my head. As stated before, these are increasing in use and in the amount he makes up, indicating some psychological change within Jace.
This, and the other bits and bobs people have posted about Jace's use of language, continues to fascinate me. I know everyone uses verbal "flags" which might not make perfect sense, but Jace takes it to a whole new level. His comprehension of the words he encounters on a day-to-day basis must be extremely poor; part of me wants to sit him down and try to understand the extent to which he actually picks up on metaphors and idiomatic phrases. For example, his misuse of the term "site" to describe whatever he's seeing on his screen. Recently he's been saying "on this site", either as a coda to his sentences ("I really hate muslims... on this site") or as an expression of excitement ("these wolf pictures are on this site!! That's on this site dude!!!"). However, last year he didn't use "on this site" in this manner; he would say "get off the site!" to trolls sending him messages on Steam, or "this is my site!" to trolls on YouTube. Was he conflating (web)sites with sight, as in "get out of my sight"? Does he understand the basic terminology of web pages, chat-rooms, etc?
This is all part of a major inability to articulate himself, and to resort to set phrases or (just as frequently) clichés. While awkwardness with self-expression is common and completely understandable amongst teenagers and children, it seems very odd that someone with as much life experience as Jace can still struggle with it. I mean, sure, Jace hardly ever leaves his house and didn't graduate High School, but he's 22; he was in High School for up to 6 years, and had a full education prior to that; he watches lots of TV and plenty of movies, has read (some) books and has obviously had (some) friends; surely his command of English is better than the spergy, disjointed mess that comes out even when he's completely confident and under no pressure (read: high). Hell, I'd have thought the experience of being constantly trolled for a year and a half would have taught him something about language (apart, of course, from "you're gay"); he still can't dismiss trolls without either resorting to ad hominems or whining (well, except for Jared Khrushchev, but that's just a case of Jace being out-autist-ed...).
The only positive side of this is that it's exceptionally hilarious to drop Word Bombson him, and that you can kind of understand why his mom patronizes him so much - it's almost as if she knows that her son possesses a distinctly inferior command of his mother tongue. God knows how badly off Jace would be if he had to learn another language.

Discuss: Since Jace has a little bit better broadcast skills than Chris and many other lolcows, what software does he use and where does he gets the templates/stock material? I know he uses Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) for game streaming.

He definitely trawls the web for stock material. This one looks like the Fact Zone logo loop background.
Edit: Found the intermission loop too!

Looks like he just killed a crane fly, which are harmless. Actually beneficial, since in many species the larvae both eat mosquito larvae and are in turn a food source for fish. I'm thinking it'd be hilarious to see Jace try and stab something that could bite him back like fire ants, deer flies or yellowjackets. Or better yet, giant centipedes. I'm guessing he doesn't have a high threshold for pain. It'd be entertaining to watch him freak out.

Huh. I always figured some folks on Deagle Nation made those kinds of things for him.

Note in the most recent stream that it wasn't Jace confronting his shitty childhood, but he did it through the avatar of Cmd. Stryker. Stryker's been shown as jace's way of coping with uncomfortable realities, maybe he tried to use stryker as his method of coping with his seemingly shitty childhood.

Jace has some petty childhood traumas - being denied vidya, weed and OMG A JOHN CENA ACTION FIGURE - but the hurt seems to run pretty deep. Maybe there is something he isn't telling us.

Heres the thing thats questionable. First, he was drunk. Seccondly, judging how he had 'sad piano music' cued up, I honestly think he was intending to kill his parents in the sims 3 and OH SHIT THE EDGY METER IS THROUGH THE GODDAMN ROOF! THE GODDAMN ROOF!

Now, this doesnt change how it got really emotional for him to kill his dad, while jumping in joy about his mom catching on fire. Or how when jace plays games, he gets Super-Immersed. Amature Psychology tip here, When stuffs going on in a movie or a video game, your brain (at the time!) cannot tell its not real for a bit so long as you are immersed.

So, I agrue that he was drunk and planning to kill his folks (2EDGY!) but it still got emotional for him with the beergoggles and the fact that he doesnt hate his dad like how he hates his mom (NOW! Thats what I call Edgy!)

We really know jack about his dad, too.
