American security company kills dogs in Kuwait

US has strict quarantine rules on bringing animals into the country from overseas, so it is often easier to kill them instead of going through the trouble to bring them back. For instance, at the end of the Vietnam War, US had all of the thousands of its military dogs in that country euthanised instead of sending them back to US

The thing is, though: Those dogs weren't euthanised. They were starved to death and tortured. That's a whole different story, all because their contract ended with KNPC.

ALL of them?! :(

Why didn't you post those links initially? Both say that it's not clear who was responsible for the deaths of the dogs.

Eastern Securities says on its own website that it's a "Limited Liability Kuwaiti established Company," and the Snopes article includes a statement from USK9 denying their involvement with the group after 2009. Is E-Sec American-owned? I'm not sure where a supposedly American company fits here.

Yes, none of the dogs were allowed back to the US. Some of them were freed and let loose in Vietnam, but almost all were euthanized since the American dog handlers were afraid the Vietnamese would eat the dogs if they were left alive. It caused such a big psychological trauma to the dog handlers that they formed a lobby group that eventually convinced Congress to pass legislation making it legal for soldiers today to bring back their military dogs and keep them as pets when their tour of duty ends.

Because the original article was linked from a blog ran by a Lebanese dude in Kuwait called 2:48am, and I wanted to make sure I got more than one reference. Being based in Kuwait is not the same as having the company run by a Kuwaiti. I am not saying Americans are bad, I myself love the US.

If we're being realistic, Americans wouldn't just take photos. The dogs would be fed to massively obese people and the meal shown on reality TV.

This hurts so bad. My Dad's talked about the dog he left behind in Nam for 30+ YEARS. It was before I was born, but I feel like I know him. ;__; He left him with the veterinarian, assuming he'd be okay, and he always says he hopes he was... I hope Dad never finds out about this! :'(
