An American Airlines passenger plane crashed into the Potomac River after colliding midair with a black hawk helicopter over Ronald Reagan International Airport in Washington, D.C., the Federal Aviation Administration announced Wednesday (January 29) via CNN.

Several videos shared online showed footage of the collision and the aftermath of the crash.



BREAKING: American Airlines Flight 5342 has collided with a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. The military aircraft, identified as PAT25, is believed to be a Priority Air Transport mission, typically designated for VIP transport operations.

Where has the Sarah Thompson name actually originated from? I've looked and the earliest source I can find is apparently ChatGPT answered that Andrew Eaves, Sarah Thompson and Michael Lee were the crew. And that's obviously wrong as there was no Michael Lee.

Autists in the thread should redeem yourselves and look into it. There were Twitter rumors claiming she is related to this guy (the Chief of Staff of the United States Army Reserve Command) but I'm not sure since the name is so common. He does have a daughter with the same name (see the caption for slide 7 in this article, kids' names also mentioned in this profile here) and that second article I linked to also claims he lives in Virginia, so that's something. It might explain how the family is pulling enough strings to not have the name released, but there's nothing to confirm it.



You wouldn't believe the number of people on Twitter (mostly libs who wanted it to be a white male) who were identifying the fucking crew chief as the "pilot."

VICKSBURG, Miss.- U.S. Army Reserve Brig. Gen. Tracy Thompson assumed leadership of the 412th Theater Engineer Command in a change of command ceremony held here June 29.

The ceremony represents the changing of the guard between the outgoing and incoming commanders and is the epitome of ceremony.

Ranks form. Flags unfurl. The band plays and cannons blaze, but put aside the pomp, the ceremonies and traditions a change of command entails, it all comes down to two commanders and their visions of today and tomorrow's 412th TEC and the Army.

Maj. Gen. William M. Buckler Jr., the outgoing commander, has served the 412th proudly, leaving a legacy on those he leaves behind as those before him have done. Now, Thompson is ready to make his mark as well.

Thompson is like many career Soldiers today. He was born and raised in Wisconsin, but lives in Virginia and traveled to his previous command in Texas. He has a private practice as an attorney. He joined the Army Reserve in 1981 as an enlisted combat engineer, joined the officer ranks and served in various roles as construction officer, company commander and inspector general while juggling a family life with his wife, Sheri, and their two children, Jacob and Sarah. The term well-rounded comes to mind and Thompson's life and career certainly reflect it.

Thompson comes from the 420th Engineer Brigade, out of Bryan, Texas, where he crafted his leadership style while serving as commander for three years.

"The brigade has such outstanding people, it almost ran itself," said Thompson. "The preparation for this job [412th commanding general] came from watching people at the 416th TEC such as my mentor Maj. Gen. David Conboy, 416th's commanding general, and seasoned staff officers like Jim Murphy."

Thompson said his toughest challenge and best experience builder at the 420th was standing up a command and headquarters for 310 Soldiers.

"I made dozens of mistakes and learned hundreds of lessons regarding hiring, being bamboozled, resume' embellishment, counseling sub-standard performers early and the importance [and politics] of money in getting things done in a large command," he said.

One of the lessons Thompson learned as a commander is the value of a good staff.

"It's indescribable the difference a highly competent staff makes on your [commander's] life," said Thompson. "Versus when you have a staff that is green and doesn't properly screen the items not meant for the commander's decision and attention."

Thompson feels all entities: the Army, corporate, non-profit or any other, are all about people. During his command at the 420th, Thompson made his first priority encouraging and helping key leaders.

"If you get the right people in the right positions and treat them well, great things will happen," he said.

His second priority was providing trained and ready units for mobilization.

"We averaged 10 to 12 percent of the brigade mobilized during my time in command. That's about 400 to 450 [Soldiers] mobilized at any given time," said Thompson. "Without exception, every unit successfully mobilized and completed its mission. We had a few leadership stumbles, but the missions were resounding successes."

Thompson is proud of the 420th's mission successes down-range and the high promotion rates of noncommissioned officers and officers as well as the positive command climate.

"We have improved in nearly every category by which we are measured ... which most often beat the Army average, particularly in our headquarters," he said.

Thompson says one of his greatest strengths is his "fear of failure."

"That always keeps me searching for and open to new ideas," he said.

So for the 412th TEC, a two-star Army Reserve command headquartered here in Vicksburg, Miss., a new commander with new ideas takes the lead and it's Thompson who is at the helm.

VICKSBURG, Miss. - The 412th Theater Engineer Command held a change of command ceremony at the Vicksburg Convention Center in Vicksburg, Mississippi, June 29.

During the ceremony, Brig. Gen. Tracy A. Thompson relieved Maj. Gen. William Buckler Jr. as commanding officer after serving in the position for three years.

Lt. Gen. Jeffrey W. Talley, the commanding general of the United States Army Reserve, was the keynote speaker at the ceremony.

"The long and distinguished career of Maj. Gen. Buckler exemplified the mission of the Army Reserve Soldier ... to support the active component," he said.

Talley thanked Buckler for his service, which spanned over three decades and recognized him for his outstanding accomplishments and contribution to the nation.

Buckler, a native of Lawton, Oklahoma, will continue into retirement following the ceremony after more than 35 years of service; he was awarded the Silver de Fleury Medal in recognition of his excellence in the field of Army engineering; in addition, he will receive the Distinguished Service Medal.

Prior to his appointment as commanding officer, he served three years as the deputy commanding officer for the 412th TEC as well as the Assistant Chief of Staff, Engineer for the Eighth U.S. Army in South Korea concurrently.

"The most important lesson I learned from Maj. Gen. Buckler is to focus on the big picture," said Brig. Gen. Miyako Schanely, deputy commanding general of the 412th TEC. "As you come through the ranks, attention to detail is paramount; but at this level, you must learn to trust your noncommissioned officers and senior leaders as you handle the overall details of the mission."

His father, Sgt. 1st Class (retired) William Buckler Sr., instilled this trust in the noncommissioned officer corps at an early age.

"My focus for him was always education," Buckler Sr. said. "I always wanted him to be better than I was and it would take discipline to do it."

Mr. Buckler retired from the Army after 21 years of service as a noncommissioned officer in charge of a helicopter maintenance unit, serving three tours in Vietnam.

"It is a good feeling to see him retire," he said. "We had spoken about it a few times and it was time for him to move on. He has done great things in the service of his country."

As the new commanding general, Thompson, a native of Oakton, Virginia, brings new ideas and concepts to the command. Thompson served as an enlisted Soldier through the rank of sergeant prior to obtaining his commission. He was also ceremoniously promoted to major general during the ceremony. He will begin wearing his two stars July 1, the day his orders take effect.

"We have an incredible leader coming in," said Schanely. "We are truly blessed to have such talented leaders here at the 412th TEC."

The 412th TEC is primarily responsible for providing support of global operations, in addition to policies, guidance and administrative support as an operational command. The command is capable of being mobilized and deployed to a theater of operation as the senior engineer headquarters to provide mission command of assigned units in support of the Army Service Component Command's assured mobility, protection, logistics and infrastructure development lines of operation.

The change of command ceremony is a military tradition deeply rooted in history and dates back to the times of the Roman Legion. In that period, military organizations developed flags unique to the organization with specialized colors and designs. When Soldiers followed their leaders into battle, they kept sight of the flag. If the banner still waved after the conflict, it was a sign that their side had won. Having this position of importance, the flag was incorporated into change of command ceremonies. The organizational banner was exchanged in public to see that the one who holds the flag is the unchallenged leader of the armies. Modern day ceremonies are principally symbolic, yet it still indicates the authority of the incoming commander.

Look up some of my posts earlier in the thread, it mostly came from a guy on Twitter who said he works for the DoD and got the name from NIPR. At some point I think he deleted the early posts with the name (probably worried about getting in trouble) and is now just saying that it's a female pilot in her early 30s from Virginia. (The fact that the guy comes off like a retard asshole in his replies actually makes me believe him more, since a guy trying to drum up fake rumors for attention would be more interested in being friendly to people.)

A few other people on X mentioned it independently as well IIRC.

Edit: Twitter anon mentioned "Renton, Virginia" but I think he misremembered "Reston, Virginia." I looked up Reston, and Tracy A. Thompson and his children Jacob and Sarah do indeed live there.

(And before anyone fucks up again, yes there is at least one woman on LinkedIn called Sarah Thompson who is associated with "Reston" and who is posting about DEI initiatives. That is a different Sarah Thompson from the UK, which also contains a place called "Reston.")

I’m not so confident that they live there now, but they did at some point.
I’m fairly convinced that I found their information, because this Sheri is connected to and is/was living with a Tracy, Sarah, and Jacob Thompson. And 3 out of the 4 had Reston connected addresses.

However, it now says that at the very least, Sherri lives in Utah, and Sarah and Jacob might have lived there at the time as well, or at least used the address. And it has it listed as Sarah being in her 20’s, and Jacob being older than her. Sarah looks young in those photos from 2014 anyways, regardless of it being from over a decade ago.

Anon might be saying that she was in her 30’s to throw people off.

There is nothing let in the sympathy bucket for trannies. The sympathy is for the plane load of kids and families wiped out.

I haven’t seen anyone else defend the troon and try to use it for internet points that wouldn’t normally use troons for internet points.


Anyways, I just saw where they came out and said that black boxes have been recovered from both the helicopter and jet plane. Expected the plane to have it, but wasn’t super confident about the helicopter.

I haven't seen this myself, but it's not exactly in military aviation's interest to widely publish things like data logging capabilities of their aircraft so we'll all learn some about their operations from this collision just because of the joint nature of it. There hasn't been a collision between military and civil aircraft in a long time.

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — Disbelief — that is what friends and neighbors of Rebecca Lobach tell CBS 17 they’re feeling after hearing the tragic news that she was in one of two aircraft to fall into the icy Potomac River Wednesday night in the nation’s capitol.

The U.S. Army has confirmed Lobach, a Durham woman and UNC alum, has been identified by authorities as the third person inside of the Black Hawk helicopter which collided with an American Airlines jet. The crash has left a presumed 67 people dead — 60 AA passengers, four AA crew members and three aboard the Black Hawk.
