Indeed it is retarded. The idea of being a conservative group, yet organizing/recruiting via the corporate internet, is an absurd paradox.

I have talked to a person who works adjacent this realm and the sense I got was that there's a good mix. Some are very driven by ideals, they genuinely believe in the stated aims of the government and that it ultimately is a force for good, so therefore group aligned against it are bad. Mostly upper class white kids, possibly Mormon, who went to a pretty good private school somewhere between Boston and D.C. Some are a particular brand of weirdo who is probably psychologically damaged. By being on the side of the government they can take out their frustrations or power fantasies on the people they target. Mad at the wife? Step-kids won't call you their real dad? Arrest some Nazis! Dox some PF guys and get them fired! Allegedly a lot of this type are swingers or some other forms of weird fetishist. I'm told these days that there's plenty of diversity hired to round things out, and a good number of guys who are more akin to a stereotypical best cop from a Hollywood movie in that they are a bit jaded and hang around for the authority and the paycheck. Average at best IQ guys who like having a badge and a gun, and probably beat their wives.
The perception of these types is they gotta be super sneaky and sworn to secrecy and whatnot, but it's a relatively small community and intelligence gathering TTPs have a lot of common ground no matter where in the world it takes place, so these guys do intermingle and talk to other people in adjacent fields.

When talking to these types you really have to wonder where their concept of a resistance movement comes from. They have some basics down: fitness comradery, a unique look and some slogans, but they are totally missing far more crucial parts like the existence of any other aspect of a resistance movement. Ironically, they should study Mao and his rise to power, or Hitler but actual history not edgy meme Hitler. It's like they learned nothing from the Beer Hall Putsch. I understand the desire to march around and box and post pictures of it and shit but damn, you'd think they'd learn it was a bad idea.
