sabled sun is my favorite since always as about everything under the cryochamber label, and for very long time during ttrpg sessions with my boys i've used to play this stuff in background for better immersion
Sounds nice. Cryo Chamber is one of the few labels whose lineup I check sometimes to find new artists. Nothing but good stuff from them: Atrium Carceri, Dronny Darko, Mount Shrine...

Same guy (Massimo Magrini), different project: Bad Sector - Quaternion.

Mark Morgan's music for Fallout is golden. Moribund World, Khans of New California, and My Chrysalis Highwayman are among my favorites.

A lot of classic fangames like Fallout: Sonora also replicate Morgan's style well (artist is Nobody's Nail Machine).

Funny that Ruskies have a better understanding of Fallout than Bethesda ever did.

Ultraworld is still one of the finest ambient albums of all time, and A Huge Ever Growing Pulsating Brain That Rules From The Centre Of The Ultraworld is widely considered its standout track. That patch is sonic velvet.

Even today, the old boys still have the magic. Both of the Chocolate Hills releases are instant classics, so was Sedibus.

Music from F1 and F2 will never get old and I'll listen to it when I'm 80. Morgan's soundtrack from Wasteland 2 is in a very similar vein. I'd love a 1h+ OST with resonator guitar in every track.

Fallout 2 only had that one resonator guitar sample in the song Gold Slouch and the source was this:

There was a song I heard once that was like looping and static and it just sounded like something being lost.
And then towards the end you can just barely hear on repeat a faint sample "And yet, I have become the hunted" from Underworld.
I would do anything to hear that again but it's probably gone forever.

I'm not a music guy but I will always remember that song.

Selected Ambient Works Volume II is my favorite album period. But I've been addicted to the GAS label by Wolfgang Voigt the previous few years.
Oktember B

Also good are Woob, Tim Hecker, Slowdive, Autechre, and µ-Ziq. Although much of their music wouldn't be classified as ambient. More contemplative melodic electronica. But whatever, they share a Venn diagram set.

If you've listened to GAS - Pop; did you enjoy it? I can't get into that one.

Though it's great in any form, you need an actual first pressing record of it to really love it. It sounds a little different fundamentally (because of mastering)
The track 1/1 is absolutely stunning after all these years, and sounds marvelous without remastering. The pieces with vocoders didn't age well however.

Thread tax.

Alio Die -- Ruined Garden Drones.
