We are clearly not dealing with people from the higher end of the IQ scale. You have to think about it in hillbilly terms, something I'm sadly familiar with. All you have to do is look at Becks' attitude, the false bravado, misguided loyalty, stubborn need to be right or "set the record straight" whether or not it matters (hint: it never matters). That's a way of life with these folks. In her own inept way she's defending her own honor by justifying her money grab. Anyway, that's my opinion as to why she may be responding and no one has had the fucking sense to tell her to knock it the fuck off for her own good.
ETA: I say all of this with the caveat that having cancer fucking sucks and I do not discount that in any way. White trash born and bred will do these things. GFMs are just a part of the natural cancer treatment process to these kinds of folks. She knows it's wrong if she has insurance and financial support from a behemoth she personally can't stand, but it's money and she's sick so she totes deserves it.
I read that she was Stage I, but that they had taken out a couple of lymph nodes which to me would indicate Stage II. It's all very confusing. There's no mention of her chemo schedule or anything like that. I'm not saying she's not sick, I'm sure she is, but there are a lot of holes I would expect from this sort of money grab. Perhaps the GFM is specifically for expenses accrued from Norma not being able to work? All of this to say, these aren't the brightest bulbs on the tree and everything they do is going to smack of dumbass unless you realize the root mentality of who you're dealing with.
