This is anecdotal but like 90% of the people I see with Fitbits are pretty fucking fat. I wouldn't think anyone who isn't really sedentary and/or overweight really gives two shits how many steps they take in one day. Plus there's the whole "feel like you're doing something about it" aspect, similar to the people who will shell out $200+ on exercise gear and a gym membership to go walk on a treadmill for 20 minutes, then give up after 4 days.

I doubt Amber bothers to make too many sockpuppets nowadays and she doesn't seem like she has any friends who would care to defend her either. Take a look at the Fat Acceptance thread, uber fat chicks have a lot of people calling them "stunning" and "gorgeous", it's usually people who are slightly less fat trying to make themselves feel better about their own appearance.
