My family are politispergs and they constantly try to press me into voting every time. Same thing for a friend I have. Midterms are coming up and I only know that because they like to remind me.

My viewpoint is yes, I know the worlds on fire and they're putting chemicals in the water that are turning people into trannies but I can't do anything about it and my single vote is meaningless with how much every side fucks with ballots so let me play my retarded video games in peace without having to listen to "REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"

Am I just getting old and need to get with the times or are politics getting way out of hand?

Being absolutely uncaring about politics is a huge part of western culture. As a result it's been entirely turned over to politicians who it turns out have turned to shit.

Also politics is more than just voting. Yeah if your only concept of politics is trying to affect nationwide change once every two or four years obviously you'll feel powerless but y'know, you don't live in the entire nation. And you don't need a ballot to point out a problem in your immediate vicinity.

I think it's for the best to avoid politics for the most part. It seems like it only leads to you becoming a extremist with commie or nazi views which is super lame and makes everyone hate you.

Just invest that energy you would invest in trying to change nationwide politics into making sure you, your family and your community are safe and healthy. National politics are becomes more tolerable when you learn to laugh at it. Same goes with other things you can't control: they become the butt of jokes rather than threats you can do nothing about.
