I'm going to make a wild and left-field prediction and also leave it as a reminder to always temper out expectations in current year...

I think there's going to be a tacked on multiplayer mode. Think about it: this is Sega, or whoever the fucks owns the game IP now, of course they're going exploit it for all it's worth. Best case scenario is that multiplayer is an asym with 1 player as the Alien versus other players. Worst case scenario is you get a tacked-on by the numbers FPS.

This is cool, but I also have little faith in sequels that take 10 years before they get started.

True, but people also weren't expecting much of Puss in Boots: The Last Wish which is also a sequel that took about 10 years and that pleasantly surprised everyone. Different media aside, it does show sometimes that the wait was worth it.

I loved the first game so I'm hoping the same magic hits this sequel too.

However, this does not mean the game is good. So far as I know most if not all of the original team are gone. And I think they've also changed the game engine to... Unreal?

For those unaware of history, IGN gave the original game which went on to be one of the best regarded games of the past decade, 5.9 and labelled it "Mediocre" because it was too difficult for them and the alien was too dangerous. Their review did real harm to the game's sales.

I really liked the original AI and I'm optimistic that this isn't just a lazy cash grab. The Xeno in the trailer looks gorgeous.

My hope is that move on from Amanda and have a new protag. Considering in the film Aliens, she canonically died due to old age. Is there any real reason for her being the protag past the first game, outside of being a reference to the films? The mix of outside and indoor areas looks promising, depending on how much free reign they give the alien to exist in the map.

It was Burke who shared the news of Amanda's death. He would have told Ripley anything he thought would push her to do what he wanted, to go on the expedition. It's very possible the only true information he has was her name and DOB and he just made up everything else
