I saw the costume for Jasmine and went. Welp they already fucked it up.

When cosplayers, Kim Kardashian, and even store bought halloween costumes can do it better.

Tbh, I kind of like the whole peacock theme going on with Live action Jasmine’s outfit, but that’s just me.

Like others have said it feels more like a theatrical production costume for an arabian themed show. Unless someone said it was Jasmine, most would consider it some sort of quasi bollywood thing.

I don't understand why Disney has released almost all of their original shows on DVD yet we STILL don't have Aladdin or The Little Mermaid........or Hercules.

I saw it. I liked it. Not the best and I probably won't be giving two shits about it in a week but all in all it wasn't a dumpster fire like I was expecting it to be.

The negative backlash was just an internet thing. All the women I know IRL and the people on my personal social media accounts agreed that while it wasn't "amazing", it was very entertaining. It's obviously not gonna make anywhere near the massive numbers Beauty And the Beast made but it's probably not gonna bomb hard like many were expecting.

Now I'm curious about the Little Mermaid remake. Will Sophie Turner play Ariel?

How was Billy Magnussen? Heard its clear that they cut material of him. But apparently like I said before is one of the highlights of the film.

Critical consensus is that the movie has everything going for it but fails to deliver anything fresh and new.

We seem to be at a state with films now where "not outright cancer" = "good".

*sigh*

When Wonder Woman came out, the fact it was a DC movie that didn't stink, because it copied the similar fish out of water story Captain America had, (which co-incidentally was the original idea of the character back in the 50's, a competitor to Captain America) meant it was the movie that gave women rights, birth control, allowed them to drive cars and own property.

Saw it. While not good at all, nowhere near as horrible as Maleficent or Beauty and the Beast were. Those two just oozed with contempt towards the original films they were based on. This at least just wanted to be its own little thing.

The bad:
-Jafar and Iago. Iago is just now a generic parrot and Jafar was turned into a whiner.
-The sets and costumes look very cheap and small.
-Empowered Jasmine.
-The framing of the songs. While the orchestra sounded nice they just did not know how to make interesting visuals to go along with the songs. A Whole new World is just ugly looking compared to how magical it was in the original.
-The pacing / cinematography. Some scenes just go by too quickly while others just drag on and on. Kinda weird thing to complain about but it is noticeable.
-The added new stuff and characters are just bleh.

The good:
-Mena as Aladdin. He's cute and believable, being humble and charming. I'm kinda biased since he was always my favorite Disney prince but he worked.
-Jasmine when she's romantic with Aladdin has nice chemistry with him.
-The monkey and the carpet were pretty cute even if they're not as important as before.
-Will Smith is a fine Genie. When he's not copying Robin Williams he's good.
-Friend like Me is the one song that's actually fun and enjoyable.

So after watching it, yeah, Will Smith really was the best part and Friend like Me is the one fun song. I had to skip through quite a few parts of the movie because they were so boring, the pacing really is all over the place.

Última edición:
Are white people on twitter ok with the casting choices?

Least they didn't do the gender flipped "women can do things too!" movie. But since the original Aladdin is still well liked by women, I suppose they went hands off.

Eeeeh..... the titular character and title has to be "Aladdin", which is male. That, and they were also banking more on nostalgia pandering more so than agenda pushing (this time); otherwise I really feel they would've if they could've.
