This just looks so unimpressive. Will Smith aside, the lead actors have nothing that stand out about them. Aladdin's hair should be way better than that, and Jasmine looks painfully average when she's supposed to be stunning. Jafar has no presence and his line delivery is weak. I guess this is what movies have come to though, there's a specific type of person that goes into acting these days so finding new stars with the wow factor just isn't happening as much as it used to.

I'm not a big proponent of telling businesses what to do with their money, but this is exactly what happens when you have a company that owns too much, with money coming in faster than you can spend it, and a movie studio that literally has no original ideas.

I don't really have any real nostalgia toward Disney's Aladdin, but this looks really bland. Jafar sounds like a gay store owner. You can have a slightly higher pitched voice and still sound menacing, just look at original Jafar or Scar. Is Will actually painted blue or is that CGI? Either way it doesn't look all that good.

If they wanted a black person to represent the genie, they should have gone all the way through with the meme:

It's filled to the brim with CGI, shit. couldn't they have gotten at least a trained monkey for Abu?

Looks pretty shit, fam. The bad actors and CGI, plus I heard they're pushing Jasmine to be more of a "strong, independent woman", so yeah, expect some wokeness added in there.

They'll give her purple hair in editing.

The only thing that gives me faith is how big the dislike number is. If this goes over the way of the Last Jedi/Solo, gets a buttload of criticism/doesn't make enough money and makes the next remakes crash, well, there's still hope in humanity.

None for Disney though.

EDIT: Anyone think if this fails Disney and their PR team of journalists shills/soyboys will blame it on racism/islamophobia and double down hard on the twitter critics.

Didn't care for the Beauty and the Beast remake at all. We watched it once, never again. Of course everyone was jizzing over it...like Ghostbusters, if you didn't like the new one, you were obviously a woman-hating insecure bigot.

Mediocrity for the sake of correcting ills of the past are compromising vision. Maybe that's an exaggeration on my part...but blockbusters lately are just flag waving overcooked demos of white noise. (Pun intended) If you have a message at least give it a proper vehicle instead of using the name for your obvious easy mark. I could respect that.

Some “news” writer is going to be writing a glorified blog post about this in a few months talking about how the actors had too light of a skin color or some other social justice drivel. The movie will still manage to be controversial even if they try and make it woke because the social justice crowd is impossible to please.
I have a family member apart of that crowd. They complained that Jasmine’s actress was half white. They said she should be fully Indian lmfao

She said that she has special privileges since she is half white. She said that fully Indian actresses should have gotten the role.
I guess she hasn’t heard of Bollywood then. If she desires movies with fully Indian people, she could look there. Does she not know international film industries exist?
