Massive wave of seething will be guaranteed once stable diffusion will start getting monetized. Project's CEO, Emad Mostaque, was a hedge fund manager. Some horrid nickle-and-diming scheme is inevitable. Anti-AI losuits will be entertaining too. AI projects are deathly afraid of them, that's why music AI development is so slow and why midjourney is not happy when people do something like this:

Midjourney banned that guy from using their service in a way that tested some of the pro-AI crowd's arguments. It's only a matter of time before lawsuits start or someone uses the AI for something that will get that project in trouble.

There are rumors of Concept Art Association planning something serious. I would be surprised if it was more than a strongly worded statement.

Discord Niggers like you are why franchises like star wars are dead. Fuck off with the astroturfing. Its a neat tool but its a tool, not the whole workshop. Those ai generate art from multiple datasets of actual art made by people and there will still be a place for both artists and ai assistance in the future.

What made you think that I advocate for AI image generation?
I dislike the direction things are going in. Last thing we need is for hedge fund managers and technocrats to have a grip on even more of the arts. Giving them an ability to generate content at a whim, using training data that even includes information like people's medical records and the precedent it sets if unchallenged, is a path that can lead to a very disturbing future. It has a potential to make the dead internet theory a reality and make life more difficult for the few good artist still left. Not to mention the good ones coming up in the future who want to devote their time to art. I hope that AI won't snuff out whatever good there is still left in art related fields like comics.
The sad thing is that even if some artist can come up with something new and unique, it can be used to train the AI to replicate that artist. Denying this is very short sighted. As short sighted as being dismissive towards image generating AIs few years ago.

It is possible to dislike AI or what it can lead to without making it obvious at every opportunity.

Little tldr for the second vid while it's a worthwhile listen; he mentions that the soul crushing controlled nature of industrialized art especially since the rise of strict digital production which has it's unforeseen consequences conflicting with creative differences, expressions, and visions among artists who choose to think outside of the box while learning, something that unhappy Art Industry Gatekeeper professionals like Trent wouldn't realize deeply to listen to unique perspectives of others.
 
AI should be used a "idea visualizer".
Put your idea into words, use AI to make a brand new image based on what you just wrote, and then redraw what the AI gave you from scratch with your own art style! (You can also add and remove certain aspects you disliked about the image, it gives it a sense of originality.)

Personally speaking, it's perfect for artists with a "art block".

Were they wrong though? Horses didn't track you for some corporation or lock features behind a paywall, they didn't require you to pay insane amounts of money to refuel, didn't require insurance, could go on most terrain without damage, didn't kill very many people, didn't have planned obsolescence, could be parked just about anywhere that has a strong post, and when they stopped working you could make clothes out of them that lasted you a lifetime instead of just having a useless pile of plastic and metal.

Really the only downside of horses is that they shit everywhere, and that's basically just free fertilizer anyway.

I'm not denying that AI art can't look fantastic with the right data set and lots of effort. I am denying that there's any concern for them replacing artists outside of the corporate sphere, as I said in my prior comment. These AI need actual art to steal from to try to trick humans, and nothing made by an algorithm will ever be anything other than a soulless mimicry to begin with, regardless of whether it can trick humans into thinking it is real (because it stole from actual human's works). Machines replaced humans with things like textiles and cars because the "soul" goes into the design of the item, and its involvement in the manufacturing is of little to no value, as they are mean to be used for a purpose. Art is not a car, or a shirt, its only purpose is visual satisfaction and emotional resonance, which will never exist from a program. Few care about the heart put into the sweater they're wearing unless it was a gift from grandma, but finding out a picture was just cobbled together by a program will make it less valuable to people.

I will admit the potential lawsuits will be amusing to see, as I highly doubt these programs making copyrighted material will survive Disney sending its army of lawyers and lobbyists to destroy the competition and bribe Congress to alter the laws. I'd also love to see the monstrocities they had to sift through before they got "art" that would sufficiently trick people.
 
It's a shame that Chris is currently in jail. A "Mecha Chris" saga could've happened or some shit.
