I have pipe dreams of my future kid going to school and learning about lynchings, and I send them back the next day with a big-ass folder of papers about how the lynchings were justified and weren't just random violence based on race. Of course irl the teacher wouldn't change her mind and my kid would just get known as the kid with the racist mom, but...sigh. A girl can dream.

They lynched plenty of whites and others who committed crimes like this too. I'm sure there's some sad cases of false accusations but it's not like it was just for being black, nor specific to it. It was just a form of righteous anger at anyone who committed heinous crimes against their community. A lot of the people who did them were black. Lynching was a thing even in Europe where everyone was white.

Not saying we should bring back this sort of thing but I wish people still had half of this sense of justice nowadays, there's certainly people of all races who deserve a worse punishment than they got for the crimes they committed. Now we have judges letting violent schizos back onto the street to go on to stab people and the UK police letting men rape underage girls in the name of anti racism.

That "the process is the punishment" thing is a two-way street. And attracting that kind of attention is the last thing such an administrative staff would want in the first place -- "so a student reported a criminal act to you, you refused to do anything and promised to punish him for reporting it, and now you're claiming he said he'd just kill the other kid himself since you won't do anything?" Interesting line of questioning for them to deal with from parents, the press, the police ... it only takes one non-corrupt person to shine a flashlight on that whole wax works for it to start melting.
