It may have changed but she was even refusing to name the country he was from because it might affect the others from there negatively. So, as of my last reading, she's right on the expected schedule.

BTW he's been sentenced to 35 years and is eligible for parole after 17.5 years.

I don't need to tell you that this is too lenient of a sentence, but what really gets me is the futility of these punishments. Even if he were sentenced to life without parole, he really wouldn't have to face the existential despair of such a punishment. Low consciousness criminals like Karmelo Anthony and Iryna Zarutska's killer truly don't even have the capacity to imbibe how terrible losing all of your life prospects to prison is, all the missed opportunities and experiences lost, never mind the fact that they'll never be reformed. They will never truly stew on what they've done, they'll just slot into the routines that prison assigns them without ever reflecting on their actions. Can you imagine spending decades in a cell and coming out the exact same person?

They are quite literally not sentient enough to be threatened by prison in the same way you or I are. This is the reason, more than "Eye for an Eye" or a sense of just deserts, that the death penalty is necessary. We don't throw rabid dogs in prison.
