In the smallish Oregon town my dad spent his youth in there was 70 black people in a town of about 7000. That's what it's like.

Southwestern Oregon has almost no blacks and is red. Lane, Douglas, Jackson and Josephine counties are all under 2%. Super pretty places to live and very white.

It's also part of why people are so terrified of pointing out bad behavior and helping to enforce constructive behaviors. There used to be a sort of woman who wouldn't be afraid to correct another woman's children if in public when the kid was acting like a little asshole, as an example. It used to be that any adult in a given place would have a certain level of de facto ability to call out stuff like that or tell others to knock shit off.
