I automatically call out and demand the removal of any "automatic" gratuity added to a check a restaurant presents me. I politely explain it's not their place to tell me how grateful I am. Naturally I only do this after I've finished eating & drinking, and I never return to the offending restaurant, but I make sure they know they've fucked up.

I know this is about blacks not tipping but:
“Tipping is wrong, restaurants should just pay waiters a living wage.”
The restaurant adds that cost into your bill, because that money has to come from somewhere.
“How dare you tell me how much to tip!”

Tipping is supposed to be a reward for good service paid at the descretion of the customer. Adding a mandatory tip-tax to the bill is wrong and defeats the point. Likewise, not tipping a pleasant waiter (when no mandatory charge is in place) means you're a stingy bastard.
