Adventures of Trump - The 45th President of the United States

god-emperor-trump-small.jpg

I'll be honest, I didn't think there was any way this could be possible until the afternoon of November 8th. Congratulations, Cunton. Dukakis himself couldn't've done it better.

I'm posting this thread for all Trump-related news stories. I'll start off with yesterday's three major flip-flops on Hillbot's prosecution, Climate Change being a hoax perpetrated by the Chinese, and the enthusiastic support of torture. This was a fast betrayal of his base even by Trump standards, but the God-Emperor had to do something to distract from the conflict of interest related to not putting his investments in a blind trust while Leader of the Free World.

OP updates will come when they may. A new thread'll likely be needed later on, possibly as soon as the riots start at the end of January, but that's for another day.

Kind of interesting about Mattis is he had badass callsigns throughout his career. In the Balkans he was known by the call sign "Chaos" in Iraq he was assigned "Mad Dog".

The men he served under though? Know him was "Warrior Monk" due to him usually having a book in one hand, and an always open ear to anyone with a low rank.

His names are really irrelevant though. What the US now has for SecDef is an honest to god soldier. Not an officer, not a general but a man who cares about the men at the sharp end.

EDIT: Also knock the shit off about a former GS employee. The bank isn't some evil mega-corp for the most part. GS employs a metric fuckton of people, some 40,000 or so worldwide.

>runs against opponent who gave Goldman Sachs speeches
>wins election
>hires someone from goldman sachs

Goldman Sach's behavior as a financial institution has been abysmal for 20 years, if trump had any inclination to really do something about the swamp he wouldn't have hired someone who heads the swamp.

I'm not happy about the pick either, but Hillary Clinton giving secret speeches to Goldman Sachs where she supposedly said she has a private policy (the one she actually implements) and a public policy (the one she lies to the public about to get elected) is not comparable to hiring a former Goldman Sachs employee.

From what I understand the cabinet pick doesn't have any direct connection with Goldman Sachs right now. Hillary Clinton was directly giving private speeches to Goldman Sachs, almost certainly ensuring to them her policies would favor their firm, to ensure her campaign would be funded.

Steven Mnuchin left Goldman Sachs 14 years ago. He hasn't been a part of Goldman Sachs since 2002. I don't think it's fair to contribute the last 20 years of Goldman Sach's behavior on a man who left 14 years ago.

Look, Trump deserves no free passes but does anyone believe it is within the realm of possibility to tab a treasury secretary that didn't work on Wall Street at some point? The dude left Goldman a decade and a half ago and hung his own shingle. Ignoring that, he's going to encourage the same monetary policy we've been following since Clinton and that cunt Greenspan - never raising interest rates equals never suffering inflation. Trump and his Great Wall Street Satan will not be the ones to face the cruel fact that a 0% fed rate is not a panacea or sustainable and is just pushing off the inevitable catastrophic ass fucking further down the line.

The only person Trump could have tabbed that might actually help this state of affairs is probably Frank Abagnale.

Her speeches for Goldmann Sachs were about putting more financial restrictions on them.

In an October 2013 speech to the financial firm, Clinton implied that action was necessary to curb Wall Street street abuses "for political reasons."

"There was also a need to do something because for political reasons, if you were an elected member of Congress and people in your constituency were losing jobs and shutting businesses and everybody in the press is saying it's all the fault of Wall Street, you can't sit idly by and do nothing,"

Not sure why Goldman Sachs is a fun of masochism but ok

I disagree. Part of the reason that attack worked so well is because its was Goldman Sachs. If it was attached to something else it wouldn't have been so effective. It was about who she was lying for.

They're all unnerving, the GOP is manipulating Trump into playing their game.

Only difference is that these are C and D-list Republicans rather than A-list

Drain the swamp indeed.

The speeches still netted her millions upon millions of dollars. It looks like lobbying to me under the form of speeches.

I just don't see the direct similarity between being GS being in bed with Hillary Clinton, giving her millions for these speeches, and Trump giving the cabinet an ex-employee who left 14 years ago who no longer has any power in the company.

If Hillary considered an ex-Goldman Sachs Manager as a potential Treasury Secretary pick would you be as equally as dismissive?

They're the bank that helped cover up Greece's debt when they entered the euro. He was there for that.

He worked for GS almost 20 years before leaving in 1999. His dad was a GS banker too. I'd say that's a pretty strong connection.

Who knows, maybe he won't be so bad. I understand that these people get around alot, but finance is in a shit state. You needed someone who isn't a part of the world.

I'm not dismissive that this guy might be the same corrupt garbage we've had for a while.

I just don't see a direct equivalence between saying Hillary is in bed with Goldman Sachs, taking millions from them to give private speeches, and saying Trump or his cabinet is in bed with Goldman Sachs for hiring a guy who left Goldman Sachs in 2002. I just don't see how Mnuchin has any direct current obligations to help the firm, while Hillary earned millions directly from their firm very recently.

Mnuchin spent nearly two decades at Goldman Sachs, reportedly making a fortune of $46 million while there. Mnuchin is also literally a child of Wall Street as his father worked at Goldman before he did. To pretend that Goldman Sachs has no impact on Mnuchin is just plain sophomoric.

And it's not just Mnuchin.

Trump is also reportedly considering Anthony Scaramucci for another top post. Before founding his own hedge fund, Scaramucci had two stints at Goldman Sachs, most recently as vice president in private wealth management. Scaramucci was a leader on Trump's finance committee during the presidential campaign and after the election he joined the billionaire's transition team.

And then there's Bannon, who is best known for leading Breitbart, worked as an M&A banker at Goldman back in the 1980s.

Wall Street certainly believes that Trump will be a friend. Since Trump's election, big bank stocks are skyrocketing on hopes that Trump will dial back or even kill the Dodd-Frank financial reform regime, which given the parade of millionaires, lobbyists and Wall Street executives coming into his cabinet, seems likely.

Why didn't anyone mention that Trump's campaign committees were littered with GS high level executives until he started appointing them into his cabinet? Would the Left have been called out for hypocrisy when they have the same kinds of people? And did the right simply ignore it to keep the Trump train going?

We have been, like multiple times.

And did the right simply ignore it to keep the Trump train going?

Either they don't care or see it as a good thing.

That's just from your desperate, dangerously deluded hope that you didn't vote for a retarded crook who'll fuck the country in all the same ways as the old crooks.

Your continued defence of his behavior just proves how little fatcats have to worry about populist uprisings when the shallow trappings of a leader cult are enough to keep the prols traps shut while every one of your sacred cows are tossed under a bus by your idol.

The Sachs pick is unnerving. My hope is that he's one of the good ones who knows what he's doing.
You were a sucker the moment you took Trump's side, as is anyone else gullible enough to back Trump under the assumption anything he says is meaningful.

At the very least, you should've given up on The Hairpiece when he talked about opening up libel laws. You'd spend the rest of your life ass-blasted in court just for running this site when the likes of Brianna Wu start to dip their toes in such a system.

That's just from your desperate, dangerously deluded hope that you didn't vote for a exceptional crook who'll fuck the country in all the same ways as the old crooks.

I wasn't hoping for that, I was more hoping people like you would be really upset about who I supposedly voted for and still cling to calling me desperate and deluded for months, even after saying the same thing for preferring the candidate who had no chance according to every single poll.

Do you really have to take whatever candidate someone voted for so personally? Do you understand the entertainment people derive from your impotent name calling?

Why should I care about this?

Hillary Clinton's just as much of a waste of oxygen. She's not even worth the tenth of a calorie it'd take to move my fingers in her defence.

Besides, thinking he could win, even at the time, was never delusional. Thinking he'd do anything but pull a Clinton Foundation with his position was always delusional.

I don't take it personally. I've never liked Trump. If he were on fire, I'd put it out with battery acid, but nothing he could do with his power actually surprises me.

What does surprise me is the slavish devotion not only to a man of such little substance, but one who so quickly and flagrantly abandons the cause of his backers. You seeing it as a personal attack every time I point out your wasting your life on a Moonie operation isn't anyone's fault but your own.

Grow some skin.

So, hang on a tick. The guy who left GS fourteen years ago... bare in mind that was before the sub prime market bubble was inflated to abjectly stupid levels. (05-08)

Also, sometimes to deal with rats you have to use a rat. Bare that in mind. The guy's experience will be invaluable no matter which way you cut the mustard.

Again, not everyone who works for GS is some evil cartoon villain.

We already had enough of that stupid shit from the other side throughout this entire campaign. His GS experience has about as much relevance as it turned out Trump's "Pussy Grabbing" gaff did.

Bugger all.
