I don't mind these all that much, honestly. They're good for dicking around in while you're on the phone with somebody or for just passing time. I can't really do any serious sketching or drawing while I'm talking on the phone, so these do serve a purpose. A lot less autistic than fidget spinners, tbh.

I find coloring books useful to learn coloring with colored pencils. Sometimes the stuff I make myself looks weird and I can't figure out why, so it's hard to pinpoint elements to improve. The pre-made, decent artwork eliminates possible reasons why a finished picture might look weird so I can focus more on what my coloring looks like.

When this was still a big thing I wanted to get into the scene to make some coloring pages to sell. I never really got around to selling coloring pages but I made a couple that were cool I guess

I have a few coloring books my mom gave me when I was going on a trip. They were fun and all. I remember before the adult coloring book craze that in high school there was these girls that used kid's coloring books to color stuff. I thought it was silly, but then I started doing it and I realized the appeal of it. Of course, it seems the fad is dying down.

Eh, they're cute and relaxing I guess. The art and hippie fag in me likes them. And the more people learn of proper coloring techniques, the better I guess.

I never liked coloring books even as a kid. I was too focused on making them look perfectly shaded and I always gave up halfway when it was clear that wasn't going to happen. I got a Pusheen coloring book for Christmas which I enjoy in the capacity that I like to just look at the patterns. I colored in exactly one single cat in the entire book thinking that now that I was older, I could actually apply some decent color on the little bastards, but no, it was not to be.

I get art supply cases every year for my b-day and Christmas. They often have one to three coloring books in them so I have a lot. Nevermind the ones that I buy on whim cuz it caught my eye.

I got one given to me as a christmas gift two years ago, I left it in my drawer then threw it out after a few months. If I'm gonna be involved with colouring books, I'm gonna be the one designing and selling them, not the other way around. I understand the intention was nice (you like art, so I got you this), but I'm in the process of getting a professional degree, I'm not even at the level of a student anymore, let alone a hobbyist, I felt a little insulted.

It's the equivalent of giving a jewelsmith a necklace making kit for ages 8+.

I think they are alright. It's not about being artistic, it's just something you can do mechanically without thinking, which for some people is a bliss.
I really like the paint by numbers ones more. It looks so fun and relaxing. Might get one of those someday.
