I love the idea of invidious but given how often youtube fucks it over, you're better off just using yt-dlp to scrape videos yourself and then upload them to the site directly
I don’t think that this would work now given the fact most active Invidious frontends use web application firewalls now which breaks embedding. Why not just use the link or if the file is small enough local archive?

Having to fire up yt_dlp for each little video is a bit of a hassle, I like the idea of having it downloaded automatically, but that might have DMCA problems
i'm not going to maintain a youtube frontend because you deliberately use the internet in the most cumbersome way possible. just copy the link over and watch it on clearnet.
This is what I've been doing for ages, but now that you mention it, could you make the "media embed" tag also generate a text link underneath the frame?
