Our personality traits can be split into two categories. Those which we truly feel, and those that we see as a virtue and decided to adopt. I'll use the response to Charlie Kirk's death as an example (not to sperg out, I just think it's a good example). "Tolerant" leftists celebrated his death. Obviously, they weren't truly tolerant, but tolerance is seen as a virtue in leftist circles so they adopted it. As soon as it become acceptable to deny someone tolerance, the mask slipped.
This has made me realise that truly virtuous people are hard to find, and some truly bad people just can't help it.
