It’s less than 24 hours since the shootings. Authorities aren’t going to provide an ID via a release only for them to have to do another when they determine a motive (if any) a few days later. This is what happens when crime which initially appears to be random occurs. Belongings have to be searched and examined, medical records have to be obtained and reviewed. If a culprit doesn’t leave any kind of message or manifesto before killing themselves investigators have to start working backward from the event.

People are so media focused on shooting these days it's incredible. On my nextdoor there's 5 or 6 'shootings' a week that people go nuts about, but they're almost all fireworks or transformers exploding or cars. Just a few a year are real. I know it's a rhetorical question but realistically it's to make getting a gun ever more difficult so that less people will obtain one, which years later makes future legislation much easier to pass.
